Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 21st October 2015]

Happy with todays performance. Pretty much every player a 7/10. Solid performance throughout. When you see Lukaku dropping deeper and Lennon having to double up with Coleman, then it suggests it's going well on the field

Good to get an away win too. Especially at Everton, given what's happened in recent years!

LvG is finally starting to realise Rooney isn't playing remotely well. If this continues the next stage will be to drop him.

I'm not sure where you are getting this idea.
There is no sign that LVG will not pick him.
His philosophy states that the captain always plays and he has done so in virtually every game for us. I think he missed 1 game where he was injured.

The fact that he scored a goal today, should see Rooney play at least another 10-15 games, even if he plays badly.

I agree though, Rooney, is not good enough to play for MUFC.
I'd rather have Herrera in the No.10 role and Rooney sold or benched.

Both harsh. I think he's still got plenty to offer the Premiership and he [Rooney] should be a starter for United for at least the next 5 years.

Eh ?
I suppose you also think that Moyes was a great fit at MUFC :D
And Falcao should also play for us?

I tell you what, why don't we sell Rooney to LFC and lets see how you like having him in your team. :p

In all seriousness, Rooney peaked early (probably when he was in his early 20s, so it's logical to believe that he will finish his career at the highest level, early.

I doubt he would get into the first team of Man City, Chelsea or Arsenal.

And lets not forget, he is one of the highest paid footballers on the planet.

The goal he scored today, was pretty good, though. First away goal in 11 months. ;)

Rooney's been playing in the EPL For 13 years now so it's no surprise he's losing, especially given his temperament and attitude to fitness.

The EPL is supposed to be the best league in the world but anyone who watched both televised matches today would think you were bonkers. Two poor matches so far today.

liverpool looked improved in patches but spurs really were poor didn't get any rythm going overall though this was partly down to liverpool closing us down

still, no excuse for some of our sloppy passing, not being able to finish and overall just not looking like we were willing to go that extra required to snatch the points

first 15 minutes was bizarre, we weren't even out of the blocks, almost like we were letting liverpool play to see what they were about under klopp which is a lethal and bizarre tactic

dembele came in for dier and he was decent but i still think alli works better with dier, he didn't really get into the game.

Both harsh. I think he's still got plenty to offer the Premiership and he should be a starter for United for at least the next 5 years.

When's your next stand-up gig?:D

I think Lingard has done well, I'd say he's looked better than Depay has in the last couple of games.

Unfortunately that isn't saying very much , Depay has (for the most part) been a complete waste of space in the EPL so far.

He is young , and he needs time to adjust - and happy to give him that , but he shouldn't be a starter by default (although in the CL he is getting the space that he needs more often and deserves his starting spot).

Really think he needs to sit out a few EPL games (while also keeping away from the nighlife, if the rumours are true)

Two utterly **** teams played today at Stamford Bridge and luckily for one of them the other made just one mistake too many.
It really is remarkable how much the mental side of the game can have an effect on decent players and Chelsea only have about 3-4 who haven't got the yips.

I thought Chelsea looked poor, but my god :D Villa are amazing.

Sherwood is a clown and you could fit everything he knows about football on a stamp. Villa are terrible. They literally beat themselves today.

Elliot :(; Janmaat, Colo, Mbemba, Dummett; Sissoko, Tiote, Colback, Wijnaldum; Perez, Mitrovic

Really, really need a win today. I've got £10 on Norwich.
