Very good decision on the Shawcross pen. Not seen the other one though.

Edit- seen it now....ridiculous!

Problem being it happens on every single corner, in every single game

Terry doesn't get pasted for it, yet he does it every single corner. Crouch got dragged down just before that pen and nothing given. I'd expect to see 7-8 pens in this game now, but he's obviously just been told to watch Shawcross. Ref's just trying to impact results rather than officiate the game ;)

It's hardly surprising though, Shawcross is the worst offender, he's given away the most pens in the premier league since his arrival at Stoke and in the last televised Stoke game he was doing it so much that Gary Neville highlighted it on each occasion.

I do agree that there are other bad offenders as well though, like the ones you mentioned.

Exactly..

That's rubbish mate. It was the last minute of the game and they had the chance to win it. Nobody could blame any manager had he sent Caulker and Dunne forward at the end. He didn't even do that though, they left 4(?) players back.

I get the impression you're just looking for a reason to knock Redknapp though and had he done what you suggested, you'd have knocked him for being a coward too.

I loathe Redknapp but I don't think I am being unfair. If you are QPR with the chance of a point against Liverpool, you absolutely bank it.

What would Mourinho have done? There is no way he would have lost the point in the same circumstances.

Even more criminal is the fact that everyone knows Liverpool are devastating against high lines and rubbish when you sit deeper. Why were the defence suddenly so high up?

In his interview Redknapp blamed the club for being naïve. Firstly that is absurd, half his team are ancient. Secondly, if he sees they are naïve why is he not fixing it. It isn't that hard.

I really don't understand you.

You thought QPR should have played out the draw. I think it's fair to say most people would disagree with that and would have expected them to be more adventurous at the end. The one person I've seen that agrees with you is Redknapp himself and you're criticising him for it

You can't criticise QPR/Redknapp for not playing out the draw and then criticise Redknapp again when he says the same thing as you about his players.

Rightly or wrongly Redknapp wanted to take a point (he made that clear during the game when he was calling his defence back) and with that in mind for Fer to take the free-kick as he did was naive. It was the most likely way that QPR would win but also the most likely way that Liverpool would win. And their defending for the first goal was naive to say the least.

Your first post, that Redknapp cost his team by going for glory, couldn't be further from the truth. You're searching for reasons to criticise Reknapp which is odd considering there are plenty of valid reasons for that. This isn't one though.

What you are saying is that he is incompetent. If he wants the point, he tells the team to sit back and deep and get 2 or 3 players to take the ball to the corner.

He wanted the glory and stupidly thought that having a back 4 defending a counter attack with no midfield cover from Liverpool was sufficient. Nuts. He had seen what happened when Liverpool attacked space throughout the match and did nothing to deal with it in the dying moments.

At Spurs he did it time and time again, when we won, it was all because of genius of Harry. When we lot because he did stupid things like underman midfields, it was the players' fault for being "wide open".

Jesus Christ. What were you expecting? Redknapp to call a time out, walk onto the pitch and brief his team as to how to take the free-kick? When the free-kick was awarded everybody immediately ran forward, Redknapp was clearly signalling for them to get back and made it obvious he was happy to take the point. Beyond that it was down to the players. A manager can't give each player exact instructions as to how to play in each moment of the match.

As for not dealing with our counter attacks. From around the 65th minute (we offered little to nothing before that), where they fell behind, until the 92nd they were chasing the game and had to leave space for us to attack. I really don't know what you were expecting Redknapp to do in the last 3 minutes of a game, different to what he did do. As above, he can try his best to get small messages onto the pitch but in these small moments it's mostly down to the players.

From an overall performance point of view QPR were near faultless. They set out to press us in midfield, get the ball into Zamora and pin us back and that's exactly what they did. The only thing that cost them today was poor finishing and their defence switching off for our first goal.

I expect him to manage his team. He can easily get instructions out on the pitch. It really isnt that hard, you dont need a time out to say as soon as you have scored "everyone sit back deep".

He had what he needed twice and he blew it... twice.

And now he is blaming his players.

Edit- the question to ask is whether any of the other better managers in the league would have blown it too?

The best managers in the league aren't managing QPR's players.

If you watched Redknapp's post match press-conference, he actually says he was shouting at his players to get back at the set-plays before that final free-kick. If true, then it seemingly is quite hard to get instructions onto the pitch.

Watch the free-kick again. Liverpool had Balotelli up (Sterling & Coutinho in the wall) and QPR had 4 men back + Fer taking the free-kick. Expecting any more is plain stupid. The mistake QPR/Fer made was trying to float a free-kick into the box when all QPR's tall players were back defending. As Redknapp said, you've either got to smash it at goal or look to keep the ball.

You're clearly just looking for a reason to criticise Redknapp though so I'm not seeing much point in carrying this on any further.

The point is that they bothered to attack the free kick at all. They should have taken the point and walked away. If Redknapp wanted his team sitting deep as soon ad they had levelled they would have been sitting deep. Alternatively, If he can't get that message across that is even more frightening than poor decision making because that effectively means he is unable to influence his team during play.

I'm criticising Redknapp for a flaw that has been evident throughout his career. He rolls the dice and blames his players when it goes wrong.

It is not just the best managers that would be able to salvage that situation it is probably the majority of other managers who can actual influence their team.

You see me wishing to criticise Redknapp, why are you so blind to poor management?

**** me! He roled the dice? You could see him shouting at his players to get back! :o

And the first time QPR levelled? The message should have been out straight away to shut up shop.

I detest Redknapp because he benefitted with spurs so much from being in the right place at the right time and when it got tough he was clueless.

He inherited a super squad, who everyone expected to beat. He almost got rid of Bale, he capitalised on teams expecting to beat us by getting us to win with counter attacking play (no bad thing). As soon as teams defended against us he was clueless. Whenever we played a 5 man midfield we would get overrun in central midfield and lose (every time... And he never learned). He blew a 10 point lead over Arsenal because he had no plan b and never coached the team to breakdown stubborn defences. He treated the club like **** when England needed a manager. He undermined Levy and the party linw with interviews about Modric and Bale and it being completely understandable that they wanted to leave.

I can't stand him.

A lot of Spurs fans didn't think Bale was good enough either. Redknapp still took him and made him the 100mil player you sold him for. He got you top four twice and got you a 100mil player which you sold and wasted. Had you capitalised on Redknapps success then you'd be flying...

Sounds like Pardew :p

Balotelli didn't play that badly yesterday, he missed a sitter but other than that he wasn't any worse then some others out there he's just an easy target.

He was definitely worse than most of them imo. Rubbish shooting, shooting when he should have passed. No tracking back, no desire to win the ball. Missed open goal etc etc.
