fairly good video of SOME of the stuff suarez has done, his stamping/treading on ankles is something that he's been caught doing SO many times when its so clearly deliberate, I forgot about his obvious and utterly dispicable eye gouge on Parker, which now I'm thinking was in the same game as the kick in the stomach but can't be sure.

Frankly the eye gouge I remember at the time thinking it was utterly utterly disipicable, as in that alone should have got him his 10 match ban, and this would be yet another incident, trying to hurt someones eye is beyond low. The number of times he so SO clearly goes for peoples ankles in an attempt to injure and gain an advantage, I'd also forgotten that he's had previous with Ivanovic and gone after him big time in previous games, which simply adds to the impression that what he did on Ivanovic was more premeditated, which makes it MUCH worse in my opinion.

I don't care how good a player is, if Henry did 1/4 of what Suarez did I'd have wanted him gone from the club, he is nothing short of an utterly disgraceful person. Why a single Liverpool fan can't see all these things together and realise not a single one is unintentional, an accident, anything but deliberate, that he's a thug and a cheat and simply shouldn't be playing football I really don't know.

This video doesn't show the literally dozens, almost certainly in the 100's of dive's in his time in this league alone, the kicking people then going down as if he's injured, his constant screaming at ref's over every little decision, his blatantly on purpose hand balls.

But you guys continue to defend him for whatever reason it is you do.

Also baz, I have no idea what you're referring to, Suarez has in absolutely no way been less bad than last year, he's at times been less subtle, and I may have remarked that I'm shocked he didn't react like a 12 year old girl on occassion, but that gives the impression that in his early time at Liverpool ALL he did was cheat, no all the dozens of incidents in the fist 18 months were interspersed with him acting almost like a human being. This season I've seen him attempt to injure more than a few players, he's you know, bitten someone, dived all over the place, scored handball goals, attempted to score other handball goals, has been a mouthy ****, kicked people and generally being by far the absolutely biggest **** in the league. AS with all things, there will be years he is slightly better and years he's slightly worse.

Last season the racism issue dragged on for a very long time rather than being wrapped up within a week, he hasn't improved one iota, if anything he's been more subtle but worse as rather than diving quite so blatantly/as often, he's doing MORE things like trying to take opponents out of the game.

spot on. he is an unremitting turd who I cannot wait to see sulk off into the sunset.

i am fed up with the claims that he is a flawed genius- that justifies nothing.

So making an example of one out of many is 'well done'? Maybe if they keep up this and have some consistency it might be well done, until then they've just thrown the book at one and let countless others get away with stuff

So the punishment would be reasonable if the FA manage to stick to a more stringent and consistent application of the rules? That would seem like a fair position to me, it's not an argument that Suarez shouldn't have been punished to this level, merely that the FA have to show some consistency and deal appropriately with incidents.

Personally I wouldn't be holding my breath but we can always hope that footballing authorities improve - after all most of them seem to be starting from a very low benchmark in the regard of making consistent and sensible decisions.

Good piece in The Telegraph. Even Ferguson thinks the length of ban is harsh "the FA did us that day" (Cantona)

Fears that children might copy Suárez’s “reprehensible” attempt to bite Ivanovic were also cited as one of the key reasons for the severity of the punishment handed down by the independent Football Association panel.

However, the three-man regulatory commission led by FA Women’s Premier League chairman Thura KT Win insisted the Uruguayan’s previous misdemeanours, including his eight-match racism ban, had no bearing on its decision to throw the book at him.

The written reasons of the panel – which also featured former Arsenal midfielder Brian Talbot and Cambridgeshire FA secretary Roger Pawley – were published on Friday afternoon by the FA after Suárez decided not to appeal against the length of the ban given him on Tuesday.

They seemed to chime with the Prime Minister’s assertion that Suárez had “set the most appalling example” to youngsters, the document laying bare the moral outrage of the three men sitting in judgment over the 26-year-old and their determination to make an example of him worldwide.

Repeatedly branding his behaviour “reprehensible”, “disgraceful” and “deplorable”, they dismissed as “preposterous” his attempt to argue his bite was not premeditated and that he had not intended to cause injury.

They accused him of failing to appreciate “the gravity and seriousness of this truly exceptional incident” by challenging the FA’s attempt to impose more than a three-man ban, a decision that proved costly.

Also factored into their deliberations were precedents in what the panel determined were similar “violent conduct” cases this year involving Eden Hazard and Brighton’s Ashley Barnes.

Disregarding the Ben Thatcher elbow on Pedro Mendes and Jermain Defoe bite on Javier Mascherano in 2006 as inapplicable, the commission found Suárez’s actions to be “significantly more serious” than Barnes’s trip on a referee last month which landed him a six-match suspension.

The panel dismissed the argument that biting should be punished less harshly than a horror tackle because “challenging for the ball is part of the game”, whereas biting was “alien to football and must remain so”.

It added: “We have the responsibility for the whole game of football in England, down to the youth football at grassroots level, and it is our duty to discourage any players at any level from acting in such a deplorable manner or attempting to copy what they had seen on the television.”

The judgment tallied almost precisely with the verdict of Prime Minister David Cameron, who earlier defended his call for the panel to come down hard on Suárez, which Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claimed had “prejudiced” the proceedings.

Cameron said: “I’ve got a seven-year-old son who just loves watching football and when players behave like this, it just sets the most appalling example to young people in our country.”

He added: “Bringing up children is one of the toughest things we do but you can’t wrap them in cotton wool and hide them away from the world. They do see these real-life examples and they repeat them back to you.”

In electing not to appeal, Suárez apologised again for his behaviour, adding: “I would like to explain to everybody that I decided to accept the ban because, whilst 10 games is clearly greater than those bans given in past cases where players have actually been seriously hurt, I acknowledge that my actions were not acceptable on the football pitch so I do not want to give the wrong impression to people by making an appeal. I really want to learn from what has happened in the last 2½ years.”

Liverpool could be without Suárez until October and Rodgers said: “We can’t hide our disappointment at the outcome of this situation, but we have to move on and support Luis in his decision.

“He will be missed for the remainder of this season and the early part of next, but we will have the opportunity to welcome a better person and player when he returns.”

Liverpool’s stance was backed by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who saw Eric Cantona banned for eight months for a kung-fu kick on a Crystal Palace supporter in 1995.

He said United banned Cantona themselves for four months only for the FA to double it.

He said: “I keep going back to Cantona because the FA did us that day and we would never allow that to happen now.”

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini leapt to the defence of Suárez, claiming the striker deserved to be crowned Footballer of the Year.

He said: “He did a mistake and he said sorry to everyone. Do you want to kill him?”

Now you see why I don't post often. GL

Super. Now i hate Mancini even more. :p

Probably wants to sign him to be honest:rolleyes:

Because he bit someone, I can't really put in any simpler than that

I'm not sure what you're trying to suggest? That biting somebody deserves an infinite ban and therefore he should accept anything he's given (because the love bite Suarez gave Ivanovic was considerably worse than had he punched him in the face or tried to break his legs)? That's not simple Tom, it's retarded.

Biting somebody is ridiculous and shocking/surprising but (short of taking a chunk out of someone (in the same way there's a difference between most elbows we see and Thatcher's elbow on Mendes)) it's no more violent than all the other violent conduct charges we see.

If this is the start of a tougher FA that's going to punish acts of violent conduct (and 'tackles' where there's clear intent to injure) much harder and more importantly, there's consistency to these bans then fair enough. I'd be stunned if that's the case though and I'm certain had Suarez punched/elbowed/headbutted Ivanovic instead, he'd have only got a 3 game ban.

the funniest thing of all, is how you liverpool fans can't quite get your head around why people may feel the way they do about a player who has obvious intentions of harming a fellow player.

let me guess? ''yes he's a monster but he's our monster!''.

indeed.

Thats not the case though is it, they have left plenty of room to go with a lower ban in future incidents. He only got 10 becasue it was a high profile game, trended on twitter, became a huge topic of discussion for the media and was Luis Suarez!

Guess its not just us Liverpool fans that think 10 games is harsh though, as you have other managers and ex footballers coming out saying 10 was too much.

Regardless, time to lock the thread surely as that set of games is over and done with.
