Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 24th October 2018]

Phenomenal result for the gunners this. Especially considering how the first half went.

We seem like a different side when both Aubamayang and Lacazette play. I wonder why we don't start them?

A sign of a good side, is winning when not playing well. And that is exactly what Arsenal are doing under Emery.

Ozil has been largely disappointing considering what he's capable of against all opposition. Today has been noticeably different.

Yeah we'll probably lose against the top 6 but we're in good form and beating teams convincingly. Considering I'd written this season off this is pleasantly surprising and if we keep beating the rest of the league we can defo challenge for top 4.
Exactly what I was saying not too long ago. Under wenger especially the last few seasons we struggled against lower opposition. But so far from what I have seen it’s encouraging to see Emery putting his own stamp on Arsenal.
I don’t expect us to win the title but at least we are in the mix. Against the likes of Liverpool, city, Utd, Chelsea and even the Spuds....as long as we can get something from those games ie wins or draws then I’ll be happy. But I don’t think we are anywhere close to winning the title. Defence still needs work but it’s encouraging to see that there have been improvements.

It's really enjoyable to watch the team play again, despite the obvious things that need improvement. Some of that is just the fresh approach and some of it's the uncertainty what to expect each game in terms of how the team sets up or if something that's not so good has been ironed out slightly.

They were more than decent at home last season but it always felt like a respite from the atrocious away performances and the inevitable form kamikaze that would happen at some point. Go behind? No problem, heads don't drop and they stay in the game. Need to change something? It gets done as early as half time. Weary feeling of deja-vu? Not yet. I don't doubt they'll be rough patches and a clobbering by City away or something, but the fact games are being won despite not being great for the whole 90mins is encouraging, both becaues there's plenty of room for improvement and that grinding out results despite playing badly-to-average wasn't a thing before. I am concerned about Emery's vitamin D levels though.

Nope, but I feel we have a genuine chance of making top four this year.

It’s a new manager and attitude, so you can’t just assume we’ll have the usual post Christmas drop off that was an annual fixture during the Wenger years.
