Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 24th September 2015]

And if Gabriel had been correctly sent off for his elbow vs Stoke (giving Stoke the advantage) he would have been suspended for the Chelsea game meaning he couldn't have been sent off vs them. And because there wasn't so much crying after the Stoke game Gabriel wasn't retrospectively charged either. Maybe it's just karma that he got sent off vs Chelsea.

yet still it was Kos who was part of costa being a dick, not gabrial, so he would still have acted accordingly and still got away with it scot free.

You cant base your opinions based on another game taht happened a week ago come on.

base your facts on what happened on the actual game with the set of players that were on the starting lineup.

If you are so eager to go as far back as stoke, why not go as far back as last season when costa got away with a thousand different incidents similar to last weekend?

had he bene punished accordingly, he would probably not have played last weekend either OR he would have learned his lesson that being a cheat he cant get away with it meaning he would never have reacted like a tool last weekend.

So yea u play the stoke card, i will play every single incident since costa has been in chelsea that he got away with

I didn't even mention Costa. You're crying about how unfortunate Gabriel was when the fact is he shouldn't have even been playing. Fwiw his elbow was far worse than what Costa's been charged with.

I believe Football should have a similar system to the NFL. Teams get a number of "reviews" that they can appeal against a decision which is reviewed by the ref and the officials.

The arguments against it are usually that it will "break up the play" but with the amount of drama caused by some incidents the play is broken up anyway.

There should also be more reviews after a match. I strongly feel players should be reprimanded after a match for incidents such as dramatisation and diving if its not caught in the match.

Hopefully that would help cut it down in the game overall.

The refs just need to get their act together. Too afraid to make the right decisions all the time or when they do decide to step up and take action they make the wrong decision.

Until video replay comes in and refs start getting punished for terrible performances this will continue to happen.

It's been going on for as long as i can remember and in this day and age with the technology there I dont see why football cant take advantage of it when most other sports already have years ago.

The quality of refereeing is generaly shocking anyway. As above I think we should look to move to an NFL style review system, the game will not be broken up anymore as players whinge and moan anyway and crowd the ref, and during that time a video ref can review footage in an instant from a variety of angles and give a decision, job done.

We'll probably see a hell of a lot more red cards.

With this, players should get it into their heads that they can be disciplined and won't be able to play things off the ref when he's not looking.

In time this should clear up a lot of the rubbish we get during games such as the "elbow to the face" that was nowhere near with the play acting afterwards.

I like costa he has that abrasive must win mentality and walks the line. Sometimes he'll get punished, other times he won't but he draws that reaction and if you are weak enough mentally to fall for it then so be it. These kind of strikers are in short supply these days.

Tough enough and good enough to make it ib multiple leagues.

Precisely my stance on him. People hate him because he isn't the next Ronaldinho with his trickery and skills. He's just a pure out and out striker - and a bloody good one at that.

I don't think it's because he hasnt got the trickery and skill, its that he pushes it too far. Playing out and asking for defenders to get booked. You can be an out and out striker and not have to resort to grabbing people by the neck, shoving your hands in peoples faces and swiping your arms out at players.

You can make your presence known to a defender with a little bit of argy bargy and standing your ground, not like you're having a brawl down a dark alley.

He can be a good striker but this part of his game let's him down. If people spoke about his brilliance every game instead of the controversy it would make people think differently of him.

Always thought Shearer was a bit of a dirty ****, but Costa takes it to a completely different level; kicking players when they are down, scratching their neck, hands in the face......and its in nearly every match ....or at least seams to be

He is already an outstanding player, and good on him (when he is fit at least), but the above just really isn't necessary and shouldn't have to be tolerated.

On top of that, he acts like a petulant child, act like he is totally innocent to the ref. It's like he has forgotten there are cameras everywhere.

Anyway, looks like justice has played its course and he got what he deserved, still the match was ruined...

RvP is about the right amount of **** for a player in my opinion. More than that and you are going too far.

Would like to see Costa get banned more often, then bugger off abroad. He's a disgrace. Hopefully he will spaz out like Suarez did, get a nice 10 match ban or something, and Chelsea let him go.

Honestly, I wonder why I even bother watching football when I see people like Costa in the game. As a neutral, it makes me sickened to watch the game of football being ruined by such morons.
