Strong season from Spurs. Shaking beginnings under a new manager to be expected, but beating our highest points tally isn't an achievement to be sniffed at, and it really was down to the wire for 4th. Finishing just 6pts below 2nd place is quite nice also.
Going into this season, I worried we were lacking the attacking strength to make any kind of mark on the league. I was sure we'd try to bolster the squad in that department in January, but January came and gone and we still seemed to be without that key striker. Lucky for us goals came thick and fast from the likes of Bale and Dempsey who both put in the their fair share of highly important goals. Bale is invaluable to the squad in its current standing. Sure, he has his critics, but he has been a huge part of what we achieved this year and that can't be denied.
4th is tough to lose out on, yet again, on the final day of the season, yet again to Arsenal, but some credit must go out to Wenger. It looked like 4th was just a distant hope for the Gunners not so long ago, but they put in an excellent shift in the tail end of the season to fire themselves up the table and back into contention for a top 4 finish, and at the end of the day, we spurned the chances we had to put 4th in our own hands rather than depend on a result out of our control.
I am proud of the team's achievements this year though, and can only hope we continue to strengthen and continue to close the gap on those who seek to keep us in their shadow.
