Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th May 2013]

I know I'm rose tinted but not sure why there is so much Spurs bashing on here at the moment.

Also if rumours are to believed Bale is about to sign a £130k p/w deal so he will almost certainly be here next season, then no doubt if a stupid money offer comes in next year we let him go and its good for both club and player.

He wants CL football, I doubt he needs the money

He may well do want CL football but so far i havent heard anything concrete that he wants to leave...thats why i think he will stick around at Spurs for at least another yr or so unless Spurs get a stupidly good offer for him this summer.

They are the new Newcastle fans.

Strong season from Spurs. Shaking beginnings under a new manager to be expected, but beating our highest points tally isn't an achievement to be sniffed at, and it really was down to the wire for 4th. Finishing just 6pts below 2nd place is quite nice also.

Going into this season, I worried we were lacking the attacking strength to make any kind of mark on the league. I was sure we'd try to bolster the squad in that department in January, but January came and gone and we still seemed to be without that key striker. Lucky for us goals came thick and fast from the likes of Bale and Dempsey who both put in the their fair share of highly important goals. Bale is invaluable to the squad in its current standing. Sure, he has his critics, but he has been a huge part of what we achieved this year and that can't be denied.

4th is tough to lose out on, yet again, on the final day of the season, yet again to Arsenal, but some credit must go out to Wenger. It looked like 4th was just a distant hope for the Gunners not so long ago, but they put in an excellent shift in the tail end of the season to fire themselves up the table and back into contention for a top 4 finish, and at the end of the day, we spurned the chances we had to put 4th in our own hands rather than depend on a result out of our control.

I am proud of the team's achievements this year though, and can only hope we continue to strengthen and continue to close the gap on those who seek to keep us in their shadow.

Did anyone go to the Spurs match? I was thinking the Newcastle equalising thing might have been done by the club on the big screen to try and fire up the team?

Yeah, I was at the game. They didn't show any information on the big screen - not even the amount of injury time to be played. Very unusual.

No idea how the rumour started. I think everyone heard a roar from a section of the ground and joined in. There's bugger all phone reception in the ground so it's nearly impossible to check the scores.

Even worse, the club didn't even announce the scores at the end of the game for about 15 minutes. Shambles.

Delighted with the win at the weekend, not just because it ensured 3rd place but it was the manner of the performance by people who must've been knackered.
Torres & Mata ran their little socks off, they've played 64 games this season and Oscar was MoTM for me and he's played 79 since July!
Ake was great in midfield too, not bad for a kid making his 1st start.
Despite reports to the contrary there was no hostility towards Interim barring the odd couple of idiots, there's always some at every ground.
If people were to actually listen to what Interim's had to say recently about the fans and not just suck up what the media spew then they'd know that there's been an awful of respect for what he's helped the club achieve.
Bottom feeders gonna feed though I guess :)

Such a classless bunch of muppets they are, Chelsea fans really are a bunch of idiots. They get 3rd and not only that Rafa wins them the Europa Cup...its really really bizarre that they havent got any class whatsoever.

I hope if Mourinho goes there, he fails miserably...then id like to see what the Chelsea fans will start yapping about.

This post is astounding.
I never though it would be possible to get so much hypocrisy in one post, show some class Spawn.
