Good overall performance by Arsenal, not even bad by Diaby, however his final ball was as always poop, the nicking the ball, breaking down the right wing, one guy in the box right in the middle, and he blasts it miles long when he had so much time and space to make that cross. Liverpool's midfield didn't pressure him much, Song/Diaby, even Denilson can look okay against teams playing poorly, its against the top teams they disintergrate into own goal scoring, penalty conceding, red card receiving idiots
Podolski was great, he's a top top player, always was, always thought he would be. Its the simple touches, a little neat sideways pass done via a back heel, but because he was bursting forwards 3 Liverpool players followed his run, his pass was perfect and because the players went with him Arsenal had the ball in plenty of space and no pressure. So simple but expertly done. His pass to Cazorla was good then bursting towards the box and getting the goal, defensively worked hard though isn't match fit, was struggling to keep up defensively in his final 20 mins. If only he'd had a proper preseason.
Giroud, won headers but knocked them on down the middle of the pitch and no one was ever there. I'd like to see Santi now any time Giroud goes after a long ball to just burst down the middle to get onto those headers. Mertesacker is a god damned liability, though he got the ball against Sterling, just, it was reckless and ref's give those all the time even when they aren't penalties, the pull on Suarez was stupid and happened because he's just so damn slow he had no other choice.
Ref's, lol, boy who cried wolf Suarez, boy who cried wolf. When you dive all game long every single game, don't be surprised when ref's start giving you nothing ever. Especially when your reaction is identical for every single stituation on the pitch. You kick stamp on someone then throw yourself to the floor, roll around, then get up screaming at the ref, and you do the same for throw ins, and corners, and goal kicks, and half time, and substitutions, ref's stop paying attention to you.
I think its still WAY to early to talk about defensive responsibility, Gibbs was caught out constantly, but for Arteta, Podolski and awful finishing he was terrible and he spends so much time getting forward.... when his crossing and final ball is terrible, I have no idea why he bothers going forward to start with. Jenks did well against a very good Sterling.
In terms of Liverpool, Agger/Skrtel and now Reina are mistake prone, with two rubbish full backs, that will be a problem all season long and as the previous few games its looking increasingly like their season will rest on the fitness/ability of a 17 year old to perform all season. He looks insanely promising but, I've said before, you don't want to "Wilshire" him, over playing, too many hard tackles while he's growing isn't a good thing. Dempsey on the end of some of those chances Sterling made and Arsenal might not have won.
We've played 3 teams, Liverpool are the first half decent side we've played but they are so toothless it didn't matter. They had PLENTY of shots, broke through our defence loads but can't finish at all. It's FAr too early to call our defence more solid just because Suarez can't hit a barn door.
