As above, I wouldn't want Owen however - trying to look at things not as a fan - sometimes it's not always in the best interests of the club to make decisions based purely on the feeling of the fans, as we've seen at Liverpool already recently.

It's very clear that FSG never wanted to appoint Dalglish, that's why they allowed Hodgson as much time as possible, hoping to get through until the summer and then replace him with their man. They knew that if Dalglish done well in the caretaker role, supporter pressure meant they'd almost be forced into giving him the full-time job and allow him to spend the money they were willing to pump into the club.

Given that they then sacked Dalglish at the first possibly opportunity and everything he built (in terms of his team/style of play) was then ripped up by Rodgers, you can't help but think the better decision would have been to put up with angry fans and not give Dalglish the full-time job if he wasn't the man they wanted.
 
Now we've reached the 'Fergie panics' stage of the game where we just stick as many people into the box as possible and continue hoofing the ball in.
