Read something this morning about a proposal to play the French national anthem before Premiership matches this weekend.

Without intending to sound disrespectful, is this not just 'milking it' a little bit? I'm all for showing support and solidarity to France but can't help but feel that this is just a bit too much? It's completely different to doing it to show support and solidarity to the French people that are on the pitch and in the stadium around you so soon after such an incident like we had at Wembley.

Having had the opportunity to show my support on Tuesday night I'm sure that many fans wish they could have the same opportunity to show their support, respects and solidarity.

There are a number of occasions were we have a minutes silence before a game, this is really no different and after such tragic events a very fitting tribute.

It is a very fitting tribute, but did no other countries go through terror attacks around the same time?

We have a shed load of history with France and they are our neighbours. We can relate to them. The events resonate far more than those far further afield.

What did/do you expect?

I have no problem with them playing the anthem, the whole media nonsense over the french players playing the international got on my ***s a bit though. Whether they should be expected to kick a ball after the horrible attacks.

I think a minutes silence would be better. I doubt enough people know the French anthem to sing along.

It's going OTT, it was a horrible event but there were attacks in other countries as well.
I'm not even sure if Ligue 1 teams will be singing the anthem themselves. Seems the PL wear black arm bands for anything these days. I don't think France would do the same.

Off to the Hawthorns this weekend, was hoping to have Ramsey and co back following international break so not feeling quite as confident as I normally would, especially with Sanchez out :(

I'm not sure how I feel about La Marseillaise being played tomorrow, it was brilliant at Wembley but that was England v France.
I've no problem with a minutes silence of course and will respect that thoroughly but I don't know how I'm going to feel about the anthem until tomorrow, I'll probably end up signing along.
I've no doubt there will be idiots at every game who will disrespect the occasion unfortunately though.

A minutes silence before a football game is much more poignant, IMO. Not sure that is big enough to grab any headlines, though.

Indeed. Can't see why the Premier League feel the need to do the anthem apart from jumping on the FA's bandwagon.

Anyway, BBC are reporting that Rooney and Martial will both miss this weekend's game. Fellaini up front from the start? :D

I'd expect a minutes silence in memory of all the people that died at the time. With the media coverage etc it's been made to appear that all the other lives outside of France don't matter.

Including those that died in Kenya and others too right?
