Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 24th Jan 2012]

Seeing that replay I imagine he'll be getting a ban. Big blow for Spurs.

Spurs??? since when did Balotelli play for them??:p...i assume your talking about the stamp??...that is a nasty stamp from Balotelli, should get a few games ban for that.

For me that's assault and City should really have the guts to punish him severely. Why on earth would you want someone like that in your club? It's like having a criminal in your workplace. :o

It's lunacy that pushing somebody in the face and stamping on somones head both get 3 game bans.

I can't see it.

I could imagine Bolton, Norwich, Everton or some other mediocre team surprising Man U but when it comes to Arsenal I can just see them completely rolling over.

LOL yep we will probably score first but then roll over and let Utd beat us just like Swansea and Fulham before:(.

Teamsheet is slightly better than the 8-2 one.

Not really! Feels like Vermaelen has been rushed back and he's going to have a very tough game at LB, if he isn't 100% fit then he's probably going to end up picking yet another injury up. Koscielny I'm fine with, then we have the ridiculously weak right hand side of defence. Slow, slow Mertesacker who seems to be virtually useless at everything and then Djourou at RB who is quite possibly one of the worst stand in right backs that I've ever seen. Depressing. :(

No, i meant the fact he'd stayed on and then scored the winner in the last 20 seconds that was the blow. Bit demoralising.

Ahh right ok...sadly it is as Balotelli should have been sent off but luckily for him, the ref didnt see it...unluckily for the Spurs he scored the winner lol.

There's a bit more experience though, the team we took to OT was embarrassing, a team decimated by suspensions and injuries. I'd hope at least they're less naive. Part of me would like to RVP drop back a bit into the advanced midfield position and let Walcott play off the last man, but it's going to be him and the Ox out wide getting no service from Djourou (poor as a central defender, even worse as a left back) and Vermaelen (didn't look too bad there but still not that sort of player). Given the lack of creativity in midfield there needs to be an outlet going out wide but lately we've not even been able to use that as they're all injured. I'd like to think this will be like the 1-0 win from the other season but we had Wilshere them who we're still missing badly. He's back in light training though so hopefully he'll make a return before we're sat somewhere unremarkable in the top 10. :(

Evans is playing, we might score!

Evans and Evra on the same side of the defence...... /does dance of joy

Seriously though, our defence is worse, it can go any way, any game can.

if Utd were in their early season form and we had a couple more injuries I'd be worried about another 8-2, it could still happen just not a huge chance of it. I still think we'll lose, defensively we suck too much and Song/Ramsey/Rosicky is, uninspiring to say the least. Chamberlain is better than other options we had and his genuine threat(if we get him the ball and he plays well) could help keep Utd pegged back.

The midfield is just too crap. Ramsey has too much expectation on him so overplays things, plus he looks tired, Song thinks he's Fabregas and doesn't defend, Rosicky is basically just a name on a shirt - he hasn't scored a league goal in two years, Walcott is.... Walcott. The Ox is the only unknown quantity. Lose the midfield battle and you have to either rely on set pieces (very rarely score from) or hoofing it on the break to someone quick (a possibility). Just not got much confidence there.

Our defence... let's not go there.

chamberlain is way better than walcott, chamberlain has the finishing touch at the end of his runs.

If he can play regular up until end of the season he'll make the england euro squad imo

Well hello there mr. glass half full.

Ramsey is still one of the better creative midfielders in the league. Song is one of the best defensive midfielders in the league. Rosicky has been very decent the few times he's played this season, and everyone was raving about Walcott for most of the season, but his mistakes get pounced on and highlighted a lot more. Our defence? Far better line up than we've had in recent games.

Some arsenal fans are never happy. Stop complaining and support the team.
