Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26 - 27th October 2013]

Calm down. I'm sick of seeing asterisks, it's like reading Purdy's posts.

Sorry but whilst I'm relatively sanguine about today I'm not sanguine about clueless folk spouting you know what. (No asterisk! :p)

Also, if you want bad language get in dota2 with Purdy :D

AVB on Spurs fans:

"We looked like the away team, we played in a difficult atmosphere with almost no support. We have a wonderful set of fans but they can do better. Away from home we play with no fear and we need that atmosphere at White Hart Lane.

"We don't need the negativity that was in White Hart Lane today."

I feel inclined to agree. Obviously the team should give the fans something to get excited about, but the fans don't help matters when they get on their team's back as soon as things don't go to plan.

If you want a circle jerk go to your own clubs forums where everyone will agree, if you don't want debate don't post ****.

Yes that's correct because it was me that had the childish fit when one tiny aspect of my club was questioned. As I said use ignore if you are going to get so upset.

AVB is right; the exact same thing happened at the beginning of last season and slowly reversed as confidence grew.

One thing no one appreciates is that Spurs have the second smallest ground in the PL. It is incredibly easy to sit 10 men behind the ball and counter attack while the spurs team get frustrated from lack of space. Our pitch is something like 3m narrower and 5m shorter than Old Trafford. That is a huge amount of lost space for us to operate in.

CM, youre right. Flying wingers seem to be our only option given that our wing back are poor at attacking on the overlap

i think AVB is right about the fans but we're not that exciting to watch at home. we're a bit better away with our counter attacking game and that's our best asset as we are one of the quickest teams in the prem.

it's no surprise our most entertaining game was against chelsea as they (understandably) went on the attack. other teams have just shut us out pretty much playing for a draw for the best part (the west ham score was not really a fair reflection on the game as a whole)

still, it's another clean sheet which is good and rose is still to return so vert can go to cb (AVB doesn't seem to have faith in naughton)

let's start bringing lamela into the fray, with 2 strikers and hit with pace down the wings and get some balls into the six yd box.

Pretty retarded goal to concede. Love Mourinho's reaction to it :D Wonder if he lost his keys like that time Pardew went into the crowd.

I think AVB's comments are disgraceful. How much do fans pay to see Tottenham each week? And he has the nerve to criticise them like that... Fans who in large probably pay a large proportion of their wages to follow them. I would be furious if I were a Spurs fan. I quite liked AVB, he has lost a bit of respect from me today.

Have you watched the interview? He goes on to say that the Spurs fans are normally fantastic and that they let themselves down today (which we did).

AVB was booed at the beginning of last season and he turned it around in
similar circumstances (ie a squad that had changed considerably). When the team isn't even losing and has absurd possession it is a bit silly to boo.

As a Spurs fan I'm with AVB on this. I only ever go to home games a few times a season but when I do you do notice that if we're not winning and it gets to 70 minutes it does get tense.

We should not in those circumstances be booing at all, either sit quiet or sing to support the team and urge them on. The negativity doesn't get us anywhere.
