Can see a tough time at the back this weekend for United.

With Jones, Smalling, Evans and blackett all out for this game. Who will we see as the centreback pairing? I really hope we do not see Blind pushed back in the defence, I don't think I can bare fletcher playing that holding role ever again.

Rumor is that McNair will be called up, which is strange as Thorpe is more established. I hope Tom Thorpe gets the much deserved call up, he has proven for the U21's he is a great player. I am hoping us being at home gives us a bit more of an advantage and we need to defend a lot less.

What are the rules on loans? Could Utd not get someone in for a bit?

Problem will more likely be the combative style of play west ham have. Im not complaining, its perfectly legitimate.

It will mean a really tough task for youth defenders unless our midfield really dominate.

It's West Ham at Old Trafford, I have no doubt that by Sunday morning you will have won the league again according to the papers.

To be fair Utd did get massively unlucky in the transfer window this summer in that there wasn't a single decent experienced centre-back for sale at any price at any club in the world.

No names spring to mind but I'm pretty sure that comment is a little far fetched. Surely there must have been some centre backs with a price on their heads.

Ultimately it was United who decided to dish out £150m on players when they knew that their defence wasn't particularly up to scratch. That £60m alone on di Maria could have been used to tempt Dortmund to part with Hummels or Subotic.

EDIT: I suspect I may have missed a dash of sarcasm....

Mehdi Benatia, best CB in Seria A. Went to Bayern for a relatively low fee considering his status.
