Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th December 2017 - 4th January 2018]

United have really flopped recently. It was looking fairly promising but the last few weeks have been awful.

Incoming moan from Mourinho about a penalty decision that a team like Utd shouldn't need to rely on to put away a Southampton team marching straight into relegation

Yet more predictable rubbish, loud boos from the crowd.

The team are just poor going forward, same as in previous seasons. A complete overhaul is needed from top to bottom, this isn't working.

Utd have dropped points in a few games of late but that was shocking. Southampton are an absolute mess right now but at no point did you think Utd would score - there was no pressure, no sustained attacks or anything.

I so hope the BT interviewer has the *******s to point out that Young should have been sent off when Mourinho's inevitable moaning about the ref comes.

Not convinced Pogba needed to touch that, or if he even did. Feel like we got away with that a bit.

Edit, second viewing he definitely touched it but didn't look like he needed to
I think the gk slight touch would have guided it onto the post (but who knows)

Utd have been awful for the last month or so - OT seems to be the place where creativity goes to die (for the home team at least)

Personally would have hooked Mata instead of Mkhi and had the latter on the right where is he more suited - but both were equally poor today

Rashford would have buried his decent chance in Nov but hesitated far too long (as he has done for the last few weeks)

The whole team was shockingly bad today - we have forgotten how to do the simplest of passes it seems (let alone score a goal)

I thought United looked like scoring, but Pogba sorted that out :D

You have to question how they are being set up. The difference between the early weeks of the season and now is stark. Pogba was bossing matches - he looked half interested today and only wanted to hit the long passes. He isn't breaking from midfield at all now and I can only put that down to the lack of balance in the team. Mata and Mikytaran has never ever worked so I don't know why we try it again. I think we need another midfielder and push Pogba further forward.

Think half interested was harsh, was busting to get forward and back at the end when Southampton took control

The **** is Scholes on about lol, he’s moving his arm back the same direction the ball is moving towards him, I.e back and away from it rather than towards it

Should be a ban for young. Do mou comments get him banned also?

Scholes is right here (about the team), lack of desire and effort. Not really a lack of quality, all these players at their best can give anyone a game. Sure, improvements are needed, but barely even creating chances is pathetic.

I don't think he said anything to warrant a ban. He done he usual, I feel sorry for the ref nonsense. ****house interviewer should have asked him about the Young incident.
