Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th Sept - 3rd Oct 2012]

with that united line up, spurs need to press and chase down and nacker them out and try and score first.

apart from lloris not getting a go, i like our line up.

our bench :(

Our starting team today is: Friedel, Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen, Sandro, Dembele, Dempsey, Lennon, Bale and Defoe

Subs: Lloris, Dawson, Huddlestone, Falque, Sigurdsson, Townsend and Mason

If Spurs do all the pressing and chasing, they're the ones that are going to be knackered.

edit: And I've just seen this stat, not sure how accurate it is though - Steven Fletcher: 4 appearances, 5 goals from 6 shots. A lot of people laughed at how much Sunderland paid for him but he's a very useful player who could have done a job for a lot of other sides.

Out of interest, in previous seasons how far behind the top teams have you been before you start playing?

After Christmas...nearly all the time when we last finished in 4th (04-05 season) we had the same points as we do now after 6 games. Think we finished on 40 points by the Christmas break that season which is possible this season given the fixtures we've got.

And so begins our climb up the table. Not been impressed with Newcastle or Spurs so far this season but Everton look very good and could well be our biggest threat in the also rans league behind the big four.

To be fair barring today Liverpool have been as far from impressive as you can get. We all look average this year, that of the top 4 have just accelerated right away.

It depends on if you're looking at our results in isolation or not. Our performance levels have been very good on the whole, today was the first time the result matched the performance though.

Yep. It's going to finish with Chelsea, City and United in the top three spots but Arsenal could get dragged in to a scrap for the fourth spot with us all. Certainly don't think there's a great deal to separate us despite the difference in results so far.
