Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th January - 3rd February 2016]

32 years old this month, 32 years I've been supporting Leicester City, 32 years of utter lows and misery, 32 years of sheer jubilancy and ecstatic highs. Season Tickets, Managers coming and going, admininstration, the club being saved from the brink of collapse, relegation, promotion, yo-yo-ing through the leagues, Cup Final wins, Cup Final defeats, Play-off final torture and play off final celebration at Wembley. But I've never, ever felt like this before, for the first time in my life watching my team I've actually felt goosebumps all over and at the same time my eyes welling up with an immense sense of pride and joy and disbelief. What a time to be a Leicester City fan. WE'RE LEICESTER CITY. WE'RE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man Utd 3-0 Stoke, FT.

Our first comprehensive win for quite a while, controlled the game from start to finish. Played with plenty of energy and attacking intent, too.

But really, it's just one game. If we continue to improve, then great, but I'm far from convinced at the moment.

Arsenal are going to finish outside the CL, largely just to rub salt in the wound of all the daft fans who thought we might win the title. This dire Utd will scrape into the CL and Spurs will be laughing at both of them from 3rd. With City doing so much better who knows, I put them as favourites, but I would absolutely love to see Leicester win it.

Utd got 2 points nearer Arsenal tonight, but the gap is still over double that (practically treble counting the GD)

14 games to go, but I just don't see Utd making it unless (at least) one team in the current top four have some major injuries in the next month or two

Utd also have to contend with the Europa and playing Thursday / Sun with a small squad, I can see performances in the league nosediving as soon as that starts

But really, it's just one game. If we continue to improve, then great, but I'm far from convinced at the moment.

+1

and we have the Bridge coming up on Sunday, however dreadful they are playing - they manage to do one over on us most of the time recently :(

We're 7 points off 16th as it stands... That's not great.

You think you have it bad..

We have no proper strikers and the one 'striker' we had decided to elbow someone in the face and we're 10 points from safety.

Really is time to give up hope :(

47% possession. This will not do. I hope LvG sorts this out before we start making this a regular thing.

Enjoy it smr.

Although Utd are pretty dire, good to se a team come out of the blue and shake things up like Leicester

Agree with the top part, they are a perfect example of it, makes them somewhat more impressive tbh.

Sakho is looking worse than Lovren and has been this season. Still not quite as bad as last year Lovren mind.

It's very difficult to find much quality in the Liverpool squad at the moment. Just very poor all round, possibly the worst it's been in my lifetime. Nothing world class, and an awful lot of mediocrity.

As bad as the players are it's Klopp that's my biggest concern at the moment. I think our injury crisis made him realise the pace and intensity of the Premiership wasn't suited to his high pressing game and our form has nosedived ever since. Even with Klopp type players the game he played at Dortmund isn't going to work here and he looks a bit lost as to what to try next.

The problem isn't a lack of quality (other than at CB) but a lack of balance. We've got a very good centre forward in Benteke, he's just the completely wrong style of player for our side and manager. We've got some very good central midfielders, the problem is they all do the same job - with the exception of Lucas who's an out and out defensive midfielder, Can, Allen, Milner and Henderson are the same player. It's the same with Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana - they're all number 10's.

Get a striker that's not always injured and suited to a high tempo pressing game and some genuine pace in the attacking midfield positions and our squad instantly looks 10x better.

As someone from Leicester, and someone who worked at the club I have to say I'm over the moon at how well they are doing, I really hope they can carry on and win the league it would top of the best premier league season I've seen so far.

Bottled it, Forster played well but we should have been scoring at least once from all those chances. Ramsey with the most anonymous performance I've ever seen and Giroud was pants all game long. Walcott might as well have not bothered coming on. Our recent form is diabolical.

if we win the league or get top 4 the whole of leicester will have to be on flood alert, fully grown men crying their eyes and hearts out!

Well, we are 11 points off 4th place now. 4th hasnt been particularly realistic for a while but there was still slim hope. Now though, 11 pts adrift, there truly is no chance. Worse still, its currently looking like there is a reasonable chance that we wont make it into europe at all.

There has been a lot of talk of a summer clear out and squad overhaul and the pulling power of a name like Klopp, but no european football would be a massive negative to the chances of top players wanting to come.
