Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 5th December 2018]

Finally a game that was entertaining to watch, not high quality but entertaining. Thought Darmian played really well and Dalot looked pretty unphased by his debut, did well with little support. Good to see Bailly back and playing well too.

**** everything about that game.

20 games unbeaten and an easy run of fixtures until the end of December, hopefully we didn't pick up any long term injuries tonight cause our defence is a joke at the moment.

It was a fantastic high octane game, almost entirely lacking in real quality, but it was the first time we played Utd at old trafford in god knows how long that I felt we both deserved to win, could win, were robbed and that we showed real fight. That felt like a Vieira/Keane era grudge match. Not quite but getting there, lacking quality from both sides but the style, the nature of the game felt similar rather than a bunch of pansies going over to get beaten up for years since that era.

THe first goal Martial dived to win the freekick, Guendouzi stopped and Martial pushed his leg out to make contact. Then a blatant offside not called allowing the goal. The second goal, entirely on our own dreadful defending. We should and could have won that at least 2-0, we had two glorious chances with Auba and Mkhi who fluffed their lines. Utd played just awful football offensively, again under MOurinho there is zero plan, the entire offence looks completely disconnected with no clue what the others are going to do.

Not happy with the result but that is the kind of fighting performance we would have lost badly 2 years ago or 7-8 years ago and everything in between.

Emery is working magic on the team but still a huge way to go. Sokratis is and was imo just someone available and short term while they spend the year lining up replacements. Kos can be great, fairly often got reds or gave away penalties in the biggest games though, but with a screwed achilles I can see him being a bit of a sicknote from now till retirement and due to age we should be replacing anyway. Mustafi is a complete joke of a defender who has to be gotten rid of as soon as possible, Kolasinac can't really defend and Bellerin I think is improving again but dropped off so badly. Torreira alone is making a huge difference defensively but we need two new longer term maybe 23-26yr old CBs to build the defence around for the next 5-6 years.

I'm sure I said the same last season but I ****ing hate Burnley, they could play peak Barca and it would be a horrible game. I know I've said this before but Ashley Barnes is the biggest cheat in the PL - how does he still get away with barging into defenders and throwing himself to the ground, winning free-kicks every week?

Anyway, horrible match, their goal was ridiculous but we eventually ground them down. A bit of a gamble with the selection but we had the players to win it off the bench and that's what they done.
Alisson is just amazing.
Beautiful *******, isn't he?

Meh disappointed by the result tonight, should smashed them into the ground but still our defence needs a lot of work. But I’ll take a point at least off that miserable **** Mou.

Surprised to see Wolves beat Chelsea :p

I know it looks worse because Wembley's massive but that's shocking turnout from Spurs fans tonight.

edit: wow, the attendance was just 33k.

Pretty one sided given you could and should have had at least two reds (Torreira on his own should have got three yellows incl a nasty stamp on Matic's ankle which was blatantly ignored)

You also totally ignored that we gave you at least one goal as well (Rojo might as well have scored it himself it was such a bad pass for your 2nd) - and De Gea was hardly tested, the saves he was forced to make were more decent than world class, and saaves you would expect him to make. In fact De Gea gave you the lead from his mistake / greasy ball and Herrera reacting too late (not heading it /chesting it off the line)

Arsenal barely deserved one, so you should consider yourself lucky you got two - you certainly didn't deserve to win what was a pretty even game (no real quality from anyone but still entertaining)

You should consider yourself lucky you got the first equaliser. Herrera was offside. Next season, that’s disallowed. Also, you should have had a red as Fellaini’s hair pull is a red card offence.
