Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th April - 8th April 2014]

There were rumours yesterday that he'd picked up a knock so I assume he's injured.

The stadium argument is nonsense. Even after taking into account the stadium repayments you were (and are) far better off than before.

And I can't get my head around the whole CL/FA Cup arguement, especially for Arsenal supporters. You'd really rather have another season of imploding in March only to scrape 4th on the last day over winning an actual trophy?

If we make it into the Champions League we have
a) Entry into the most prestigious European tournament.
b) Bucketloads of money.
c) Fixtures on a Tuesday / Wednesday.

A+B allow us more chance of signing decent players (whether it actually happens or not)
C means players are less tired for weekend games.

Winning the FA cup we get
a) Trophy that means very little.
b) Very little money in comparison.
c) Europa league - competition that means nothing and is played on Thursdays - players are more tired for weekend match days.

Short term winning the FA cup is probably better - but it would completely dick on our chances of doing anything next season.

Best we have played all season imo, confidence, crisp passing, and conviction upfront when needed. brilliant!! COYB

Arsenal no are going to lose their 4th palce trophy this year, not long after looking like potential champions.

What is it with their awful end of season form each year. I still suspect one way or another they'll clinch 4th...as they always do. Its just tiring how they do nothing to change or progress. Would rather Everton get a financial boost or spurs who'd atleast give the CL a good go

You're missing the point that for years you've been in the prestigious tournament, had the money and played on Tuesdays & Wednesdays but achieved **** all from it.

The only advantage to finishing 4th over the FA Cup is if you actually then go on to achieve something in the future. Arsenal continually haven't. After years of failing to win a trophy, I can't understand why an Arsenal supporter would be happy with 4th place over the CL.

The fact is I don't see winning the FA cup as an achievement. I want a return back to the top of the premiership - I think being in the CL league gives us more chance of that than an FA cup win.

Don't get me wrong, I want both this year. Anything else is a failure - but if you're making me pick one, then its CL.

Arsenal, pathetic. I remember being at the Arsenal 7 Everton 1 game donkeys years ago now. That was when Arsenal/Wenger were playing like the current Everton/Martinez side, flowing attacking football with a solid defence. Years on and Everton have had a top manager for less than one year and are already playing great football while Wenger, with years of experience, complete control of the squad and years to perfect a system is playing massively worse football, with a worse team, that costs over twice as much a season in wages despite the reduction in quality.

Stupid team, stupid players, crap manager, poor system, dodgy defence.

Nothing changed in 8 years, been moving away from how good we were, buying the wrong players. Bunch of midgets with the same type of abilities in general. We have no genuine pace/athletic players for the wings. As in Walcott, made of glass, a midget, no strength and no courage at all is the closest we've got. We have no one genuinely able to beat players down the wing. Sagna received the ball over and over again but if there was a fullback ahead of him he didn't once try to beat them, like Walcott it's a "that looks tough I cba'd" turns and passes backwards every time.

The defence was dodgy and Verm made mistakes, but Mert was out of position way way wider than he should have been almost the entire game, and the main reason Mert was wide right most of the game is because Sagna wasn't anywhere near the defence.

Fullback out of position, cb moves to fill the gap, next cb moves over, other fullback needs to move across. Sagna compromised the defence all game long by being out of defence.

Flamini was terrible marking runs in to the box, as was Arteta. Arsenal don't have the quality to beat big teams, we don't have any powerful/physical players in the squad. The biggest player is Giroud, who is a complete wuss, Walcott is the fastest, but again a complete and utter wuss.

People also completely over rate Ramsey, he made dozens of defensive errors when he was fit and his goals came mostly against, Cardiff(2), Swansea, Norwich, Stoke, Sunderland(2) with a solitary goal against Liverpool making up his entire quota of goals against good opposition. He's good, and his improvement has been nothing short of dramatic, but he wasn't remotely as good as people think and I think a 100k a week contract for someone who has put in 3 good months in several years, mostly against woeful opposition is a huge over reaction.

Ozil is meh, Caz has been terrible for most of the season. We have no quality fullbacks at all and no strikers at all.

Turned it off after the 3rd goal, that was a truly pathetic performance from everyone. Monreal and Sagna out of position all game, Verm knowing they are bad still decided he didn't need to stay solid in the middle. Midfield with no energy, no urgency, awful passing just useless. And Giroud, I really don't know what to say about him other than it's getting to the point I will have an affair with him just so his Wife definitely makes him move back to France. To top it all off Wenger show's his complete reluctance to change anything regardless of how we are doing.
