Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6th - 11th April 2012]

I saw something going on but couldn't tell by the angle, that took him out the game as well.

Well done Liverpool anyway, Blackburn were **** but you had 10 men most of the game and got the win.

Yup, Squirtle pinned him to the ground so he was playing everyone onside by the time he got up.

Thankfully the ref has a better grasp of the rules than you do. Yakubu played the ball away from goal and actually towards a Liverpool player. How's that a goalscoring opportunity?

I'm assuming he's referring to the Flanagan 2nd non yellow card, which was absolutely blatant, that's a yellow card every day of the week.

Of course you could argue that if Flanagan wasn't on the pitch, the back pass wouldn't have taken place which resulted in the keeper being sent off, but there you have it.

I mentioned last season that Flanagan was just another Steven Warnock (and that wasn't meant as a compliment) but he's far worse. And Brad Jones is useless too.
Everyone knew Jones was **** bar the Owl. His own fans celebrated when he left Middlesbrough FFS :o

Assuming Carragher was rested for the semi, Jones is going to have his work cut out against Everton. Weakest our spine has been for decades :(

I assumed he meant the Jones foul because as you say, had Flanagan been sent off then the incident that led to the Doni red card would have never came about.

Whichever way you look at it, it was still a **** decision by the ref.

Rovers deserved what they got .... sod all. You can't defend like they did for the first 2 goals and expect to take anything from the game.

He played for them when we played Boro in the FA Cup in 2009, he was dire. Can't wait for Saturday we literally just have to shoot at goal. :D

lol at Blackburn and Liverpool, really that was a Blackburn side that defended and attacked so poorly that well, that is the way Blackburn played when we thrashed them 7-1.

They were pathetic, man of the match for Yakubu, the laziest player in the league, the one time he actually ran he generated a penalty but that was ALL the keeper basically. Fluffed one penalty and scored a stupidly easy header, 2 goals sure decent game for a guy that barely moves but man of the match, not a chance.

They rarely had long spells of pressure against a 10 man team who had quite a few on yellows and likely couldn't risk tackles.

Still Jones should probably have gone, Shelvey should have gone and the replay with Skrtel wasn't clear but it looked like he both shoved the CB down and then maybe put his hand in the CB's face, though the CB would probably have made more noise about it.

The only reason I don't want Blackburn to go down is not quality, but entertainment, they are either in games like this, or letting teams spank them 7-1, or beating Utd, can't really go wrong with a Blackburn game :p

Personally, I would have sent Jones off, but not Doni. It isn't what the rules say, but it seems right to me. There wasn't much else Doni could have done in that situation, he was going for the ball and Hoillet(i think?) nicked it away too quickly.
Jones deliberately pushed Yakubu a yard away from an open goal, not sure who would have got there first.
