Judging on McLaren's team selections so far, I'm not at all optimistic about our opening game this weekend. So much so that I've put Pelle in my fantasy team, as I think he'll have a field day against Williamson and Taylor.

If it were me picking the team for this weekend:

I haven't seen a single thing to make me optimistic about the season ahead, Wijnaldum looks a good player but we still have fundamental flaws in the squad which haven't been addressed despite 3 decent signings.

I expect more of the same scrapping for relegation and **** football and none football related drama being the most interesting stuff to go on all season.

On another note, why the **** are we playing 1330 on a Sunday when there is no other European games or other reasons to push it to then. It isn't televised, baffling.

We'll play better football and our front 4 is potentially quite tasty barring McClaren doesn't **** it up, that's about it. The fact we're kicking off the season with Williamson and Saylor at the heart of our defence means Charnley and McClaren have already failed. We have yet to kick a ball in a competitive game and we're already handicapped.

I don't mind McClaren, but he should have never gotten the job. I wish him well and pray he brings some form of stability to this club until Ashley dies/gets bored.

Southampton have a EL game on Thursday so that's why we're playing on Sunday.

Throw Sissoko wide right, Perez behind Mitro and Winegum along side Anita and that's what I would go with.

Going on what McClaren has/hasn't said Aarons and Perez will unfortunately start on the bench. de Jong #10, Obertan LW, and Sissoko RW is my guess. And then there's Colback running around like a retard leaving aches of space.

Sissoko is wasted out wide. Perez and Aarons seem to be the only players for us who can do something out of nothing, so I'd take the gamble and play both, especially at home. De Jong just hasn't looked fit at all, and not sure he will ever be the player he used to be energy wise, he hasn't lost his touch.

I can't stand watching Colback play, he just wanders round aimlessly doing nothing at all. And he's meant to be our set piece specialist, yet can't deliver a decent ball to save his life.

I'd go Perez/Aaron's wide, you need some creativity and pace and that's what they offer. You hsve to play Sissoko deeper, he really excels bursting forward and making runs at players, that's him at his best then Wijnaldum looks like a "no10" player. There's potential there but we seem to excel at getting good players then using them badly so no doubt it will be a **** formation/lineup.

I much prefer Sissoko when he plays wide right. Without wanting to make him sound like a wild horse, he needs lots of space to run. He's great through the middle when we're counter-attacking but so often last season he would try to power through the middle of a well-organised midfield/defence, overrun the ball and lose it. He isn't disciplined enough to play a defensive role either - Colback wasn't the only one who went missing last season.

Fingers crossed we can get a couple more defenders in before the end of the transfer window. Surely having to play Bigirimana at right-back during pre-season will convince McClaren that we need some cover there.

Finally!

vs Spurs I'd like to see us line up as follows:

I'd have Rojo ahead of Blind but he's confirmed as starting, De Gea might not be in goal, either.

The midfield is hard to pick, I'd probably leave Carrick out and try the new guys there, but he'll probably start. I fear Herrera might end up back on the bench, so we have Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger with Carrick sat behind them - plenty of steel there.

Pace will have to come from the full backs, only Depay is really quick out of the midfield/attack. :(

Not expecting an easy game at all...

The EPL is back!! Seems so soon to be fair!

Man Utd / Spurs should be some what decent viewing.
Hope Bournemouth pick up a win first game :)

I'm a bit nervous about this season, Chelsea seem to be the only side who haven't improved their squad so far and with Costa's hamstrings that means we'll struggle for goals as has been evident in pre-season.

No De Gea vs Spurs, not in the right frame of mind says LvG (with the whole Real Madrid thing).

Schweinsteiger not playing either, as he needs to build up more fitness.

I wouldn't worry about a lack of goals on Saturday if, as expected, Garry picks Fernandez to partner Ash in defence.

His record against you guys is Played: 1.5 Conceded: 8 :(
