Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 10th August 2015]

Baines is injured, 12 weeks apparently.

Get him out of your FF teams and drink the bleach!

Expecting a good start from us this weekend. Home to West Ham is a nice game to kick off with, we usually get a result from them. A good enough performance will see us top of the league after the opening weekend.

Then it will be all downhill from there :(

Who'll be in goal for Manyoo? Romero, who recently joined and hasn't played(?) for the club but is obviously a okay 'keeper vs. Johnstone who's basically a child but played most in pre-season?

I can't be Romero, surely, unless he's been awesome in training. He's not played a club game since January (don't know how many internationals he's played in the meantime though).

I'll be interested to see how Liverpool line up. Can't help but feel it will be a narrow 4-3-3 once the likes of Firmino has settled in. The only real winger they have is Ibe, though I can imagine Sturridge might end up as an inside forward if Benteke hits the ground running.

I'd be happy with a draw, we've off loaded a few of the £100m flops but haven't really strengthened over the summer

I'm tipping your lot to do quite well this year.

You've strengthened at the back, Erikson keeps getting better and better, I think you'll be in with a decent shout at top 4.

Interested to see who we field against Newcastle, a few injuries still hanging around which isn't helpful but I don't think we will suffer too much from the Vitesse game, we never really had to work in that game.

Still hoping for a solid CB signing soon to replace Alderweireld, though Yoshida is sold enough for now.

Expecting us to line up along the line of...

Stekelenburg
Cedric Yoshida Fonte Targett
Wanyama Davis
Tadic Mane Juanmi
Pelle

Looking forward to Bertrand and Clasie returning though

we're not in contention for cl but we have improved, chopped out some dead wood

i want dembele and lamela to step up this season as i think both could be very good but it's just not working atm

we still need a deep playmaker that we've never replaced since modric jumped ship.

MUFC team v THFC: Romero, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Young, Depay, Mata, Rooney

Worried about Kane vs Blind, though...

What do people think about Romero?

Bit of a maverick, but he could potentially be very good. But also he's the sort of keeper who could end up flapping about if things don't go well...

People seem to think we're playing a 4-2-3-1, so we'll see. Mata right, Depay at 10.
