Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 11th May 2016]

I know knocking Rooney is the thing to do and admittedly he's not played well but Herrera has been ****ing anonymous.

He's passed the ball and the ball has reached it's target, that's why you haven't noticed him. Other than that cross for the Rashford chance Rooney has broken up 90% of our very limited attacks.

You certainly can't accuse Rooney of being anonymous when he plays. He will do 2 or 3 good things in a game and the commentators will gush over it and then the rest of the time he will kill our attacks and slow down our play.

No-one played well for us in that first half but Rooney was extra crap. I am happy for players to lose the ball when they are trying to cut the opposition open but the number of overhit passes down the left wing is crazy.

to be fair no-one for MU in the attacking sense has done particularly well (and Rojo and Valencia are liabilities in defence)

I want somebody to put a full clip together of each Rooney appearence, because I feel like I'm going ******** insane that the media doesn't see each and every **** touch he manages. They just pick up on some craptastic crossfield pass under no pressure that does nothing to advance the play because it was played 5 seconds too late

That must be why we have all these comments about Herrera losing the ball....wait.

That's clearly because it's the to do thing to criticise Rooney. The stats speak for themselves. Herrera has got on the ball far less and when he has, he's given it away far more often.

A cm misplacing nearly half his passes is terrible.

There is a person in our technical area (though not the manager or assistant). Must be serious.

I wondered what he was doing. Probably part of the catering staff because god forbid any of the management should be down there.

Herrera was rubbish first half but he is operating in a congested area. Rooney has made so many poor passes under no pressure. Stats don't tell you the whole story.

e: thank god for that.

Stats like that are very misleading, for example if a defender plays a bad pass to Herrera and then he loses it does it count as him misplacing the pass? I prefer to use my eyes and watch the game rather than looking at a list of numbers. That way I can see stuff like Rooney nearly mucking up a chance at the weekend rather than Rooney getting a great assist for Mata like the papers would tell you :)
