Greggs just found a reason splash on even more GPU power!

Hahaha and I am up for that as well. Skyrim was chucked at 2GB Nvidia users relentlessly but I would happily take the Skyrim challenge with any of the CF users :p

And I will run it with tons and tons of mods :D

It never bothered the 3GB 79## series so i'm sure the 4GB 290 will do just fine.

And those charts are all over the place, the 2GB 770 is faster than the 3GB 780 @ 4K while the 7990 and 690 aren't even tested by the looks of it.

I don't care, it was tongue in cheek but tons and tons of mods, it would require 6GB GPU's is all and I don't even like Skyrim. Mind you, having seen some of the mods out, I might have to start playing it :D

7990 if perfect for the job then :D

Or wait for the 8GB 290's

Give up Humbug a 3gb or 4gb card is just not up to the job for Skyrim (modded) @4k, the only reference card that is up to it is the Titan.

You don't see any AMD cards capable of playing Crysis 3 maxed out @4k either so it is no fluke that 4gb is not enough for that resolution.

You really should give credit where it is due, if you really want to make a point you could say NVidia are taking the mick for not having any 6gb versions of the 780ti on the shelves yet are still plugging 4k.

The 7990 is 6GB and half the price of a Titan and much faster.

3GB per GPU though I think. :(

I hate the way Nvidia, and AMD market the dual graphics cards.

3GB per GPU and not suitable for 4k where as a set of Titans is ideal for that resolution.

Horses for courses.

Not for £850, are you mad? :p until you can show that 4GB is not enough for Skyrim with or without mods your just speculating.

The Titan is massively overpriced. i wouldn't advise people to spend £850 on a GPU based purely on speculation that one game needs 6GB. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't either.

According to this Skyrim uses 3.5GB of Video Ram, I don't think that's modded?

That's running on a SAPPHIRE HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB.

Have you not seen that graph doing the rounds in an early set of tests on the 290X showing skyrim modded using 5.5gb lol.

When the GTX 690 came out I made a point of not recommending it to anyone for a resolution above 1600p due to the lack of vram. Don't you agree now that games are even more demanding that it would be irresponsible to recommend 3gb and 4gb cards for 4K.

290X 5.5GB? how much Vram did that 290X have?

That needs explaining before i give an answer to this.

It didn't

They measured that on a Titan.:D

You said 290X, its now a Titan?

Tell me, when running in Cross-Fire Eyefinity does it run as one image using the power of both GPU's and only the vRam from one GPU, or does it split it up into tiles and split the tiles between the vRam of the individual GPU's?

What are you on about?

Humbug, give over. It is plain to see what Kaap is on about and you are just dragging this out. What does it matter?
