Isn't Canon kit covered by an international warranty?
Also when considering imports etc there is a trader know as Kerso (based in Scotland) that does very good prices and seems to be able to provide most camera/lens. Normally sells a lot on TalkPhotography forum and eBay.

Not camera's themselves unfortunately, but lenses are covered.
Bought my 7d from Digital Rev. It came very quickly and the service was great.
The saving I made was big, almost about £300. I see it if the worst comes to the worst and it dies, the saving ive made should balance a repair cost.
Even so they will take returns and if its a warranty fault they will pay for the repair in this country.
