Grid 2

Another game that is 50% released on day 1 and the other 50% paid for DLC day 1.. Codemasters you are a disgrace.

50% of the game? xD

It is 4 cars (I think?) and then 3 layouts for tracks, not even new tracks just layouts. So it is more like 5% of the games content as DLC just at stupidly high prices!

I'm guessing the prices will drop down soon and are at the current price just to entice pre-orders and people last minute buying, give it a week or so and you would have thought each pack would be £2 and hopefully we will get to the days when cars are £1 and circuit layouts are £1!

As for the game, I've been enjoying it :D I only did a few races last night and it took me 1-2 races to get used to the car handling and drift mechanics again and since then I've felt far more competitive. I've found the races to feel very in the moment and it isn't the usual you have to beat every car by the first corner to feel like you have a chance of winning, even 3 laps into a race you can loose a few places and gain them back which is fun imo :D Feels similar to how AI works in Mario Kart or something just not quite to the same degree though.

I should be up for some multiplayer gamings tonight if anyone else is :)

Also such a pretty and smooth game! Few low textures/models here and there but the environments generally look fantastic and are very alive.

Yeah definitely, this seems to be switching dynamically in-game from steering like a Barge to steering like a Shopping Trolley depending upon whether you attempted to drift or not into a corner.. If you did a random drift, the game rewards you with regular steering and some bizarre miraculous super-stick-to-the-road glue which will leave you completely baffled as to how you got around that corner! If you don't drift.. You spin or go off the track.

Loldriftmasters.

Yep. I tried the original last night and turned off the aids(which you can't do in Grid 2) and was surprised at how difficult it was to get a drift right after coming from Grid 2. I also didn't have to drift around corners to be fast. I could drive it like, you know, a car.

Wow ,loving this and im not usually a racing game fan.
Detail graphics wise its beautifull, optimised well too.
Ok its not hardcore, which is all the better for me:)

Having not played Grid 1, is grid 2 worth paying £17 for?

If you enjoy arcade racing with some very pretty graphics, different feeling cars and interesting environments then yes :D

If you aren't that fussed on racing games then probably not :p

Grid 2 feels similar to Grid 1 to me yet the variety in the way each car drives differently makes it far more challenging and interesting imo.

Love this game, hate the moaners but what else is new here on OCUK.

The only problem I see is the retarded people online atm not wanting to race clean or just go in every corner full speed and taking out the people that do actually try to race proper.

Guess its a game to play with friends only and some normal rules.

Anyone set up a OCUK GRID2 group yet?

I think this game is actually aimed at getting 'none racing gamer buyers' to actually buy a racing games because it's no like driving and is overly accessible. Hence most of us that actually enjoy driving feel let down, because this bares no resemblance to driving a car... which the game is about. Or perhaps not?

Anyway it's wasted money for me.

Played a bit late last night with some of the 247 lads and it should be great fun. Jim isn't happy he can't reverse of the start grid but we are! :D

Great, will join later.
