Just looking at some of the screenshots in the High Res pic thread and I'm liking the look of GRID. Whats the gameplay like? Arcade-like or sim? Also whats everyones thoughts of the game?

Cheers, Wayne

Its a great game.

I have the PC version and its really enjoyable to play. Unlike gran turismo where there is more emphasis on realism it has a more arcade style to it so its not too difficult to play.

The difficulty curve is actually quite good, the races at the start are quite easy but necessary to get to terms with the courses etc as in the later races the cpu opponents can be very good.

Your car also takes damage, so you cant just drive around fullspeed like in gran turismo and bounce off other cars. Well thats a lie, you could, but you may find that you are unable to turn left/right later in the race due to the damage caused!

We all make mistakes as well and for that reason you dont need to repeat the whole race just because you crashed too hard into a wall in the last lap - you can travel back in time and attempt that bit again. Adds a nice touch to the gameplay.

Very nice graphics as well. The user interface is one of the best I have seen in a video game.

Loved it at launch, I couldn't put it down. Especially MP.

Then I started playing sims online, now the thought of playing Grid online makes me want to vomit. It does look fantastic though.

Hopefully you can try before you buy.

Good game. I preferred the earlier levels where they were set inner city. The 'track' levels didn't appeal to me as much. One small thing I'll mention is that I was shocked how much better it looks with 4xAA over 2xAA. I've not noticed that before in a game.

Loved the game good match imho between arcade and realism. AI isn't that bad in SP - tend to play more on the SP side as I get pwned totally in MP - as well as the usual undesirables online :(

Great game, if you dont want an online "sim".

Online races are pretty much down to whether you avoid the inevitable mash-up on the first corner on most races though...

Awesome game imo, very few racers come out that spark my intrest, but this one certainly did. Everything about it was great, once id gotten used to how to control the cars it was immensely fun, the graphics were awesome, the damage model was amazing and online was a blast. Recommended :).

Its great but i only ever play demolition derby on-line..it feels good to smash johnny foreigner...most have no sense of humour though..and don't mention the war to the Germans.Graphics are great and plays great with a wheel..G25 here or a 360 controller.

So you liked my screenshots...:p

Yeah, its a great game. Played it loads when i first got it and still play it from time to time now. Its not a full on sim, but its not completely an arcade game and its a good balance for me. Go out and get it, definatly worth it. :)
