Hi

Purchased a cast iron griddle pan recently, want to cook some steaks on it, and just wondering what the rough time Is I should preheat the pan on a gas hob over a medium flame perhaps?

I’m so used to using a standard non stick frying pan, so new to cast iron.

Thanks

On mine I leave it for 5 mins and it's hot enough to instantly sear the steak the moment it touches the griddle.

Thanks, do you use low/medium flame to preheat?

I also read the steak sticks at first, so I’m guessing leave for about 3 minutes and then turn for another 3 minutes?

Brush some oil on the steak with your seasoning.

With gas it's not so important you have to be a bit more careful heating heavy pans on induction hobs.

Griddle pan for steaks

and at that point I'm out :p
Well that’s what I have, and it certainly beats my non stick frying pan.

I cooked 3 minutes either side and it was cooked medium.

I preheated the pan for about 7mins and it reached around 300f according to my laser temp gun (I normally use this for my pizza oven)

I may get a cast iron skillet eventually, but if I did what foods could
I cook in the griddle pan? Vegetables perhaps?

I dunno what he's on about, griddle pan is great for doing steak, second only (in my opinion) to a really hot charcoal BBQ.
