I've been wondering this for a while and there seems to be a lot of conflicting opinions on the matter, but what is the correct orientation for slotted brake discs?

The only part that most seem to agree on is the orientation of the vanes in-between the discs, which if directional should sweep back to coincide with the rotation of the wheel when going forwards. But if the vanes are radial (straight out), the many don't think it matters.

So, if the vanes are radial, should the slots be cutting into the brake pads like this?

Or should it be like this, where the slots are sweeping into the brake pads?

I have stoptech disks on my GTR and they say to put them on like the top image so the grooves in the disk wipe the face of the pad.

My Celica GT-Four has slotted discs but also directional vanes. Most important thing is if you have direction vanes on your discs that they go on correctly.

Mine are like the bottom picture. I don't think it really matters.
