Ground Zero

Took these on Sept 9th 2001 with some friends and we flew back on Sept 10th. I was actually in bed recovering from jetlag when it all kicked off. Was an amazing place and I cannot wait to get back there at some point.

Very nice pics, am glad the spot has been developed into a tasteful place for people to remember those lost.

Remember that day as it was my first job following graduation and it was a media company so there were TV's in various places around the building. The shock at first of what we thought then was a tragic accident but then of course it unfolded further as the day went on. Very sad moment in history, have wanted to visit for years hopefully will some day, don't feel I could go to NY and not spend some time there.

Here's a photo I took from the top of the rock on 9/11 2013. The photo says everything really. Such a mix of emotions walking round the city on that day.

Stolen from FB as I'm at work so don't have access to the high quality version.

Nice pictures. I think they should have rebuilt them the same on the exact same site.

I remember when it happened, I was playing Counter Strike and had the TV on next to me. I was on holiday from school as we had shorter summer holidays and a week off in September.

Eww, would you rebuild the Tacoma build the exact same?

14 years ago?

I remember waking up in front of the TV after a night shift and seeing the second plane hit. Thinking it was a film, I turned over to find the same footage on every channel.

A very sad day. RIP, always remembered.

Its one of the few things where I remember where I was when it happened. There was talk about a plane hitting a building in New York at my last call, having over an hour's drive back to the depot I put Radio 4 on, & heard about the 2nd plane crash, then both towers collapse. ******* Hell! Put the News on at home, saw the remains of the plane that crashed into the Pentagon & reports of a plane crash (which was intended for the White House) 14 Years later, I still remember it like it was yesterday. Watching it all unfurl was surreal in a horrifying way.

It's one of my things to do on my Bucket List, go & pay my respects at some point.

I did the same thing when Princess Diana was Killed, I went & paid my respects at Buckingham Palace & Kensington Gardens.

The arguments still rage on YouTube with the conspiracy theorists. Some even saying that no planes hit the towers at all. You cant argue with them, one girl accused me of being an FBI agent, perhaps I am and I don't know it lol

I never saw the Twin Towers unfortunately but have visited a few times since they went down. I remember the event unfolding when at College, I doubt I'll ever forget it.

I knew someone who worked or visited the place and the most impressive thing was the sheer size of it, like a city in the sky. He just couldn't believe it had gone.

I moved to the NY area about 5 months back - living just across the Hudson from lower Manhattan. I walk from the World Trade PATH station to the southern tip of Manhattan most days - I felt compelled to stop and reflect and ponder for a while on my walk back on Friday afternoon. I didn't visit NY for the first time until 2006 so never saw the towers, but walking around at the moment is somewhere between sombre, surreal and sad.

I remember watching it on TV and actually watching the second aircraft hit, never in my life have i ever been speechless. Was one of most incredible things i've ever watched.

RIP to all those 2,977 people who lost their lives. Those 19 hijackers can rot in hell.
