Group policy software distribution question

Hi,

I'm looking after a network which uses software distribution for Adobe reader and the Office compatabilty pack.

The install share is on a file cluster but the admin before me set it up as a regulare share rather than a cluster resource.

I've now corrected that but can't see any way to just change the source directory in the software distribution policy.

Does anyone know how I can change this or if I recreate it with the new location will it try to reinstall?

Many thanks

Of the top of my head if you change the location it will reinstall the application.
Thats for 2003 at least. We had a similar problem, in the end we used dns to redirect the query, its not pretty but worked for us.

I did think about using a cname to point to the cluster resource but then we'll lose resolution of the cluster "A" node.

Yep, it is 2k3

When I get back home at the weekend I'll test in my lab to confirm if it does indeed do a reinstall unless anyone else can confirm? I don't want to disturb 300 users at the same time

Thanks anyway LK

Just to warn your
If you do use dns then you need to edit the registry of the new server to accept connections for the old one. I cant remember the exact key but i'm sure a quick google will reveal it :). And on that note i'd be surprised if it will be possible with clustered storage.
It was still better than rolling out Office to all our users again

Thanks to you all. Atleast I know exactly where I stand.

I can put it to the customer and they can remain aware of the failover issue.

And with your help I don't have to do loads of testing at home.

Thanks again
