Growing array on Perc5

I've replaced all the drives in my Perc5 RAID 5 array with larger drives (did it one by one and let them rebuild each time) however there doesn't seem to be a way of increasing the virtual disk size to match the larger drives now.. Is there any way to do this or is it a limitation of the hardware? Do I just have to backup all the data and recreate the array to match the new drive size?

Thanks!

you do this from within windows.

At a command prompt, type diskpart.exe.
Type list volume to display the existing volumes on the computer.
Type Select volume volume number where volume number is number of the volume that you want to extend.
Type extend

I've got to grow my own Perc5 array soon, down to my last 400 GB. I've had the 8th 1TB disk sitting there for ages as a hot spare, just been waiting for winter to be over to try to avoid any power cuts since it'll probably take two or three days :D

That only seems to work if you are adding an extra disk to the array. I've replaced all the original ones with larger ones but it doesn't seem to change the virtual disk size at the end..

Hmm, so the virtual disk size reported in the megaraid manager hasn't grown?
Not sure that I can help here, As I've not had that problem.

If you can use the change RAID level option to switch it to RAID0 and back again it might fix it.

Ah no worries! I've given up trying to expand it. I'm currently backing up all my data to other hard drives and I'm just going to recreate the array.. Going to take me a while!
