Ok, im just wondering, my friend went on steroids for 1 month and he stopped becuase he was becoming too angry etc.. Hes been on growth hormones for a year or so and is hench! Im just wondering , would they be beneficial for muscle building and is there any side effects or anything? Ive just bought some http://www.sshealthfoods.com/pages.php?page=lt.weight&details=0774 aswell and I know a lot of you dont think weight gainers are that good but I need to get some fat on me anyways and it seems like really good stuff.. Cheers

weight gainers are ok, but shouldnt be used as a lazy way to replace good food... they are supplements... and therefore should supplement a good diet. then, if you cannot eat more, add shakes etc to bulk the calories.

Yes of course steroids and growth hormones are benificial to muscle building, thats the whole point of them... but with a crappy diet you wont gain anywhere near the potential and wilol just be wasting your money and risking your health... steroids are not a wonder drug, yes you gain off of them, but there are risks.

I dont knwo this forums rules on these discussions so i wont be posting any information up. but if you do a bit of research into them im sure you will find all the answers you need with regards to the risks of such drugs.

While I believe in the right supplements a little more than most around here, one such supplement I refuse to support are weight gainers

Diet is so so so important, and solid food will benefit you much more than a weight gainer like that. 1,250kcal is a nice number for one shake, but if you can afford that, you can afford slightly more food a week to get that from good food.

Now my knowledge of growth hormones is very little, but when you are taking hormones (that will always be synthetic versions of the real thing) your body tends to rely on that, so after a long time on testosterone for example, you'll find that your body begins to need it, and when you stop taking it, your natural testosterone levels will be much much lower than before you started taking it.

A part of me wants to say growth hormones pretty much are steroids, so the side effects will be very similar if not identical depending on the hormone you are taking.

My advice for you would be to train naturally, for a while, a long while, and by that I mean a few years. It will take you that to get anywhere near your natural limits. If after that you still find yourself wanting more and not happy with your progress, then give it another thought, but until then, it really isn't worth the gamble on your health. Get yourself a spot on diet, which anyone here will help you with, maybe some whey protein if you really want some extra easy calories, and maybe some creatine.

Then as Morba says, "Eat Like a Horse, Train Like a Demon, Sleep Like a Baby"

EDIT - Quite a few posts since I started writing that lol, anyway natural test boosters such as Tribulus are very hit and miss, some people react brilliantly to it, but others won't notice a difference. And I do know someone who got a written warning at their job shortly after taking Tribulus, it made him a very very angry man :D To be honest, just knock one out before the gym, save your money and get similar benefits :p

What's your job? Or your daily routine?

Why aren't you getting enough food? Financial reasons or just not enough time to eat? If you really can't get the calories from another source then I guess that weight gainer will do :)

But I want a very good reason as to why you can't eat the extra food? :p

I just finished a levels so am living at home, dont have a full time job at the moment. I dont really want to cook 5 different meals a day as to be fair, im a lazy 18 year old. Obviously I will cook a meal or 2 but I eat whatever me mum makes. Ill use the weight gainer for 2 months or till it runs out and see how fat or how much I have gained.. :)

ok to be blunt, your lazy, you've already admitted that... with that attitude and the fact your not eating anything i can promise you 100% you will gain sod all.

Do you even train? if your too lazy to cook how do you lift weights?

Unfortunately mate, and I'm going to sound like a moaning old man here, but Freefaller or any of the experienced guys on here will tell you

If you want to put on mass and take this seriously, then being lazy about any aspect of it will halt your progress

If you want to put on mass, you need to eat like you want to put on mass, if that means having to prepare a bit more food then so be it, the results will make it all worthwhile

It's easy as well, you can prepare 3-4 days worth of food by doing it all in bulk in one evening if you like. There's so many tips we could all give you and help you out, but please, be willing to put the time and effort in if you really want to see the results

This time last year I was going along, coasting, not really eating a lot, not sleeping much, and taking it all like it was supposed to be easy. Didn't really get anywhere. Now, a year on, and I eat loads, all good food, train myself silly, and make sure I get 8 hours sleep a night, and the results have been brilliant

1250 shake :eek:why o why do you need to take that when all you have to do is do some research and find a site like:

http://www.mealplansite.com/sports-bodybuilding-new-gain.aspx

http://www.mealplansite.com/sports-bodybuilding-lean-mass.aspx

Follow either of those diets because (im not being nasty) your diet is rubbish at the moment.
The guy who wrote those above plans is a highly regarded nutritionist who has a large client base some of which include a guy who is going for his pro bodybuilding card.

no need for that.. read my diet

no need for what? you said in your post your lazy.
Be honest with yourself... how can you honestly expect to gain if your not willing to cook any food?

Im not being rude, im just being straight to the point with you...

if you want to grow you have to eat... personally its something i struggle with, not due to being lazy, but i work 12 hour days as a builder, consuming a lot of calories and by the end of the day i have no appetite, so i make myself weight gainers by mixing oats with milk and oil etc, there are a lot of decent tasty weight gain recipies out there that cost peanuts.

and with regards to your diet, your not really eating anything, but then you know this already...

I said that I am willing to cook a few of me own meals but Im not gonna start making another meal in the evening when me mums in the kitchen making one aswell.. And I posted me diet so you could improve it for me.. You think you could give me some advice on what to add to it please?
