GT 5: Prologue Demo 20th Oct

Apart from the first shot I prefer GT5.

At least its better looking than the god awful snow effects on PGR4 demo (also downloaded at the same time and played back to back - the intros for that make it look like some PS2 game)

lmao, you need glasses m8, shouldn't GT5 have weather effects 1st before we make comparisions. Would love to see weather effects in GT5 along with night time racing. Why hasn't GT5 got them?, not having them simply isn't good enough, its not lack of disc space thats for sure

First person I've seen to criticise PGR4's weather effects

The snow effects on the floor not the actual snow coming down (it just looks like one big blurred texture or it could just be that the track on GT5 looks a lot 'cleaner/crisper'). The other circuit looks very nice though.

Just found this comparison from the initial post that I quoted knives above: (shows a much better comparison)

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8313674&postcount=255

Also reading through the triped posted on that link (from knives) there is mention of differing weather effects and a night/day cycle in GT5 although I have no idea whether this is correct or just speculation.

Will there be no weather effects in GT5?
Or do you mean why are there no weather effects in the 750mb nearly a year early preview.
If there are not going to be weather effects in the full game then that is not good.

er no...just because 1 thing does something badly, doesnt mean that it is a minus point to another that does not do it at all.

Although i did enjoy the wet track races from GT3:)

and BTW the wet track effects/gfx Out of this World. (at the time...)

Looks like the in-game engine to me, i.e. it's being rendered in real time rather than FMV.

PGR does the same thing, it looks decent enough as you play, but go into photo mode and it moves to a whole new level.

Me too, I want to drive a race tuned 350Z in a proper longer race though instead of the crappy stock cars :(

Really? What screen resolution are you connecting with there mate? I have looked at it both on mine and Stellios's HDTV and it looks very uninspiring. I have an LG 26' and he has a 26' Samsung. I have tried using 720p and 1080i and it still looks very poor. I take it this game comes in its own at 1080p?

What TV you have mate? I have the LG26LC2R and I'm running 1080i and there are jaggies all over the place. If you can, could you post what settings you have your TV on.

TIA

Johnz0r

Hi mate, its an LG 26LX2R (getting on a bit now)

Heres the settings:

PSM: Intelligent Eye
CSM: Normal
XD: On
ACM: All set to 1

Not usually a big fan of the image enhancing stuff such as XD but LG seem to do it well.
