Hi guys, seeing as everyone else is putting up there shots, it's only fair that i stick up mine.

First time at the circuit and i went with the intention of just watching the racing and if i got a couple of good shots i would be very happy indeed as i knew that I would struggle with the 200mm.

Really enjoyed the day, managed to cheekily get on the grid aswell without a grid pass :o The new pit layout and paddock looks so good, they've done a proper good job of modernising the curcuit.

Anyway onto the pics:

Amen to Goliath, when i got to the track at 9 and saw the gt1's doing the practice I thought they were loud.

But, then heard them again at the main race, as they all pelted it through the first corner in a pack i was stood at the pit exit, my god, the noise. Now i've heard race cars of all types before (other than f1) and couldn't believe the awesomeness of it, they made your insides shake, especially the Nissan GTR's. Has to be heard to be understood.

Thanks for all the comments chaps.

Excuse the silly question, but to photograph these events do you just buy a normal ticket for the day and take your gear along or do you need to get another ticket / permission to go to the barriers etc and photograph?

I've only ever been to Silverstone for car shows so have no idea how a proper day works.

I actually think they sound better than F1 - the mix of V12, V8 and the fact they are decent capacity (rather than a whiny 2.4l :D) just makes a good noise. Couldn't agree with you more - was on the straight for the start of the Tourist Trophy and it sent shivers down my spine: one of those "glad to be alive" moments :p

Normal ticket will do, but you'll need a decent lens and some creativity ref location to get any decent shots. Health and safety has gone bit mad, so to get really close track-side you'll need a press pass. Other than that just ask some of the marshals nicely, some of them are reasonable blokes (and all petrolheads) and if you're not in harms way they will let you sneak the other side of the fence for a couple of mins (the Murcielago R-SV spitting flames in my shots was taken from the track-side of a safety escape fence).

Ah thanks will have to give it a go, although I want to replace my current zoom with something better as its clear my current Tamron is too cheap for this.
