GT HD trailer

The sound effects havent improved much? It sounds like one guy on his electronic keyboard takes a sample and sits there bending its pitch according to the revs, it sounds crap

True GT4 didnt have great engine sounds and these are just ported and probably upmixed to 5.1 on the fly.

Lets see how the impressions bear up after a few days playing and it would be great to hear from someone that could compare this to GT4 possibly someone that experienced 1080i mode on the NTSC version of GT4

I would like to see how this compares to Forza 2, GT 5 that is. I'm really big on my driving games so hopefully forza 2 is good enough because I dont really want a ps3.

From the HD videos i've watched, it's nothing amazing, good car detail, but the scenery looks pretty pants, however it it a pretty poor location to show off its potential. See how it comes out in the city style levels etc in GT5, or whatever updated demos appear in the coming year.

johnnyfive, the first two screenshots you can probably get away with size wise, but the last one is way too big, so just a hotlink would suffice.

Are we looking at the same game? Pants scenery - c'mon, it looks almost photo realistic at times - what more do you want? Better than reality?

When I first played it I thought it was probably just a very high res photo in the background which had been curved around the mapped terrain, but then after playing it for a while I realised that the angles of the shadows etc on the mountains were actually changing as you viewed them from different angles and locations, so it has to be rendered.

It just doesn't look good to me, I've watched the HD videos on my HDTV via my 360 and it doesn't look anything special. Just my opinion of course. Look at shots #2 and #3, if you didn't have grass there it'd look like a 4 year old game with a high res car in frong and a high res mountain pic in the background.

As I've said, it's not the best environment to show off, and grass isn't done very well in most games anyway.

Damn just look at this...

Such a shame its only a demo, had it been the ful game it was meant to of been id of been very tempted to get a PS3 imported.

STOPPIT YOUR MAKING ME WANT A PS£!

The first two pics look awesome, although thats in some sort of replay mode?

The bottom one, the scenery looks decidedly 'meh'.. its green..

Is that the photo mode in the first 2 pictures? It just seems to look like it always has, which is awesome. The last pictures scenery/landscape is pretty horrible...

Edit: Emlyn doesn't refresh the tab for ages and someone else has said what he's thinking, good good. :D

The first to replay pics look great, compared to the vids I've seen anyway, it looks like the colour setup on that TV is a lot nicer, colours are far more vibrant. On the last picture however, if the crowd were not in the picture, you could say it's a PS2 pic from it.

I've been very underwhelmed by GTHD, I spent a few hours on my Brothers PS3 yesterday, and quite frankly, when actually playing the game, the graphics are pretty ropey, sure on photo mode they look much better, as do all these games, but I really want it to look great whilst actually playing it!!..

There are no tyre marks left on the road, shadows look false, and the cars are pretty small when playing, so they lose all the 'detail'... And considering the track used is pretty sparce, you'd think they could have cranked the effects up a notch.. it's clear why they ditched this in favour of GT5..

That's playing it on a 1080P 52" LCD as well!!!..

In comparison, Motorstorm looks great whilst playing it, detailed models, great effects, etc..

Yeah, Motorstorm rocks - can't wait to get my copy delivered, hopefully today ;)

lovely looking game going by those three shots taken up there ^^ although its a shame that the GT series could never really get the cars sounding realistic enough, well, in my opinion they all just sounded a little bit flat. but if you take TDU for example they got most, if not all spot on. (feel free to disagree :p ) glad to see they finally have a ferarri or two in the series. anyone know if lambo's will be in the next one?
