One of my schoolfriends is on tour at the moment in Belgium and he showed me these today. Said it was the best car he's ever been in. Is it faster than the Turbo S? More pics in the morning apparently....

Was in the same boat (or car? :p) recently myself. Definatley the best car i've ever been in.

Turbo S will probably be faster in a straight line but the GT3 RS will be quicker round a track I reckon.
 
They seem to be similar depreciation. The GT3 RS was what, £100,000? Around the same as a Turbo and the one you've posted above is up for £56,000.

The GT3 is holding it's value a little bit better but I wouldn't buy one at that price as an investment.
 
Sorry to rain on your parade but that isn't an RS I believe. They only came in white and had a different rear wing. At best it's a 996 Mk2 GT3 Club Sport which to be fair is much the same.

There were 470ish RS's built I think.
 
996 RS values are firm and have been for 2 years pretty much, I don't see the good ones going much lower than £60K at any time forward.
 
So do any normal 911s hold their value :confused:

I've been looking at 996 turbos and 997 c2sports in particular. Not as an investment, but I was thinking I wouldn't lose a fortune in depreciation over a couple of years - certainly not as much as a nearly new M3. I'm starting to think they are just as bad.

Was it a myth that 911s held their value really well, or is it just specific limited run models?

Buy the right one, and it wont depreciate at all. Buy a normal mass production one and it will keep depreciating for a while.

Dont get me wrong, you'll never find them for £500 in autotrader, but some of the rarer models like the 964RS have almost become an investment. Im thinking the 996 GT3 RS will end up being the same.

A 997 Carrera 2S will end up at £15,000 or so eventually. Whereas I'd say the 996 Turbo is safer bet, 993 and 964 Turbos still command a heavy premium, but that's due to Porsche aficionados liking the last of the air cooled Porsches. The 996 turbo is watercooled and thus unloved by the porsche fans. But at the 35k they can be bought for now, i dont think they have much more to depreciate.
