Just got a PS3.

Never really played any of the Gran Turismos. Never had a PS before, always had Nintendo or Xbox. I loved the PGR series, never been a big fan of things like F1 sims etc... So am I going to like GT5? What is it more like? What others can you recommend.

GT5 you will like, beware though, if it is GT5p you are thinking of, remember it isn't a full game and not very deep.

im a huge fan of the PGR series also and find GT5 pretty dull to be honest.

Have you played Forza 2? its along the same lines, more sim then fun.

I also think its downright cheaky to charge for what is far from a full game, IMO this should have been a £5 download at most, really and truly a free demo.

I shouldnt have been suckered in by the hype and waited for the full release.

Hmm, no never played Forza 2 and I feel the same regarding paying £20 for what is essentially a demo. Might be forced to wait a bit. So is there anything out that compares to the PGR or even NFS series?

Get a wheel, makes the game far far better !

If you are a petrol head and like driving then it is the game for you.

Forza 2 can be found rediculously cheap in some places.I've seen it for £10 brand new.
I would get FM2 and if you like it,get GT5 also.

depends on your racing mentality, GT tends to be more sim-like in that you get rewarded for taking corners perfectly and gaining every tenth of a second you can from a lap... gotham always has an arcadey feel for me whereby you get rewarded for powerslides and the like...

any sort of powerslide, wheelspin, skidding will scrub off speed, you shouldn't get rewarded for it unless its a event judged for style like the big jap drifting events...

i have always loved GT5 for the satisfaction of getting corners bang on and getting every ounce you can out of a lap ;)

havn't played forza but thats my take on GT/PGR

Beginning to wonder whether its for me then... thats exactly what I don't like, its too much of a chore, I just don't find any longevity in it :(

have you tried the demo, should give you a good idea

Personally I feel that both Forza and GT's cars feel unresponsive and slow, I realise that they are meant to be realistic, but it doesn't make it fun IMO

Hmm all these GT5p is "ok" comments making me think twice about getting a PS3 :|

what games on the ps3 intrest you?

Most of the games that catch my eye have gone of the boil or won't be released for ages, maybe hang back on your purchase for a while if your unsure

That said there are some stonking games out there, so you could argue play through the back catalogue whilst waiting for the "big" games

gt5p is the best game ive bought/played on the ps3 but by your posts i think you would be better off with ridge racer which you could probably pick up for about 17 quid.

I traded in Call of Poopy 4 for this and i think it's amazing! It's supposed to be a demo but it more a less a small game. For £18 you get a lot.

I love getting all the golds. I've had it 5 days now and i'm not even halfway through. So many nice cars to buy and showing them off online will be cool.

Personally I love GT5. Maybe I'm just not that great a player, but I'm finding it quite a challenge. If you don't, enable Professional Physics, then give it a go.

I find it falls between Forza 2 and PGR4 in the Sim/Arcade balance.

I'd agree with this if it wasnt for the fact that you can just bounce round corners by hitting other cars and barriers with little/no loss of speed. I know what you mean though.

Its a decent enough game, but trade it in well before the full release as it will then be worthless!

With the ramming/barrier time penalties that are on some of the races, that's not quite the case.
