GT5 PSP gameplay video

Quick question about the PSP, to prevent the need to make a new thread.

PSP can play PSOne games through the PS3 and remote play right? Is it possible to do it with PS2 games as well?

Nope to PS2 games, most PS3s don't support PS2 these days anyway due to manufacturing costs. PS1 games do work fine though.

Looks good - don't mind only 4 car grids (although i suspect single player mode may provide more) it's more how the cars feel and drive.

Hope they're as tweakable as in GT4.

EDIT: Plus - that guy totally sucks at Trial Mountain. Was he blindfolded?

4 car grid :-(

should have gone for 30fps.

Its not confirmed that the game supports 4,6 or 8 in single player...
So far only announced that 4 can play in network mode.

Graphics wise its similar to GT4 quality and it was said the download will be approx 1GB for the game and that technically getting "The Ring" to work within the systems limited memory was a problem they wrestled with in development.

It has also been announced that dampers, tyres can not be upgraded in this PSP simple version. However GT5 WILL allow things like after tunning dampers and performance branded tyres.

i bought a PSP soon after release after seeing the GT PSP screen shot i think it was of a supra or something and after a year i gave up and sold it. only bought the PSP to play the game. lol

fail on my part but its taken far too long coming. won't be getting a PSP for this game again however.

No tyre upgrades? Did someone say FAIL?
I hated GT4's road tyre limitation in so many races, it's far more fun to be able to fit racing slicks and just race. To not even have the option would be rubbish.
Why not just release GT2 and have a fun game?

I'm taking it this will control a lot like the PS1 games? Theres no way in hell I can use the little thing beside the d-pad to play this.

Looks stunning for the PSP but sold my PSP last year, one of the reason was to play GT on the PSP, took far far too long to come out and doubt I will buy another handheld in my lifetime.

They just seem to disappoint me. Strange because I hammered my gameboy to death.

Well I guess there is a reason why Gran Turismo took so damn long for the PSP, it looks damn good for the handheld and with what Polyphony Digital are trying to offer for this, sounds like quite a lot for a portable game.

I guess with the PSP out for almost 5 years now and software developers working long on it, we can see some very good looking games to maximise the handheld. Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny is quite another example too.

It does look very good! But.. I think a lot of people don't realise how good SOME games look on the PSP because most PSP games are nothing special at all.

joystiq.com hands own impressions from E3:

It's been a long time coming, but Gran Turismo PSP is finally coming out. Finally re-revealed at the Sony press conference, Gran Turismo is shaping up to be a thoroughly comprehensive experience worthy of the franchise moniker. Our first hands-on with Gran Turismo (on a PSP go) left us impressed, a good thing considering its official release is not too far away: October 1st.

Obviously, the most immediately striking aspect of the game must be its visuals. During the conference, we stated the game looked just as good as GT4 on PS2. Upon closer look on the PSP go, it's clear that the visuals are downgraded a bit. But really, just a bit. Anyone that looks at GT running on the PSP will be impressed that handheld technology has gone so far to create such detailed visuals at 60 fps.

The Gran Turismo series attempts to recreate the most realistic driving sim on the marketplace, but it's clear the PSP game won't be able to match the fidelity of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on PS3. The PSP controls hinder the experience a bit -- and no, we're not crying for a second analog stick. The lack of analog buttons make a difference in the way series vets may play the game.

The handheld experience offers a bit more of a streamlined GT experience that should appeal to the casual racing fan. Before each race, players can quickly choose difficulty modes. On Easy, we found that the AI drivers offered some challenge, and found turns to be much easier to handle. With the on-track indicators directing us when to break and turn, it took very little time to really get back into the groove of GT. For better or for worse, the series' interpretation of crashing makes a full return. As expected, there's no damage model, and players will be able to bounce off of other cars with relative ease.

The breadth of content being offered for the PSP Gran Turismo game is overwhelming, with over 800 licensed vehicles from Ferrari, Nissan and more. There are over 30 tracks recreating some of the environments used in previous GT games which should fill the void left by Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's spartan offerings.

Gran Turismo is quite an achievement on the PSP, and we're confident series fans will appreciate the large amount of content featured in the game. It may not be the best GT game ever, but it is undoubtedly a real Gran Turismo game recreated fully on a handheld. We were unable to test one of the other new features of the handheld version: the ability to trade vehicles via Ad-Hoc wi-fi. With over 800 cars to collect, it seems players will need to work together to complete their collections. Gotta catch 'em all, right?

Looks amazing - I really can't wait to get this ordered and played!

This years E3 has been the best one in a long time.
