November 27th.

Looks like an apparent release date has shown up for Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3 console. The popular online British entertainment retailer, Play.com, has penciled in a release date of November 27th, 2009.

When asked to comment about the date, ***** responded with "Please be advised that the release date currently listed on the website, the 27th November 2009, is as given to us by the publisher / manufacturer or The Game. Should this release date change we will update the website accordingly, so it is worth checking periodically Play.com.

This date is given by Sony Computer Entertainment or by Polyphony Digital. This means that Gran Turismo 5 is finally able to play this year! November 2009, the race game where each race freak waiting to be released in the UK! Hopefully we will hear soon what Sony itself, here we have more information. Once we know more we'll tell you, of course, as soon as possible to you!"

Wether this is valid or not is yet to be seen due to the fact their has yet to be any sort of official statement from Sony or Polyphony Digatal, the creators of the games. If this is true, it's going to be an interesting christmas battle between Team 10's Forza 3 and Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 3 for racing simulation supremacy.

Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has also revealed a new feature for Gran Turismo 5 that will allow gamers to share whatever car they have earned or bought in the portable iteration of the title to it's bigger brother on the Playstation 3.

Yamauchi added that he wanted the player to feel like they actually owned the car, and that these cars would be able to be transfered to future Gran Turismo titles. "Whether it be from PSP to GT5, to even future renditions, GT6 and on, you can carry over the cars as YOUR cars, as something you own, even if the system changes, you can keep it."

Case of DNF? :D

Never, ever trust *competitors* release dates. I reckon they're talking out of their posterior.

Think about it, we got a release month for God of War 3 at E3, which was early next year, yet they didn't announce what GT5s release date yet it is apparently this year? Doesn't sound right at all.

It's utter testicles basically.

I have MBA exams 2 weeks after the "release date" :(

Which means I'm gonna be knuckling down, all the while a shiney GT5 PS3 box will be staring at me saying "<Nelso Munts voice> Ha ha. You can't open me till your done with your exams."

Except unlike DNF, GT5 actually exists and isn't a load of bullcrap. :p

DNF actually exists albeit not in completed form :p

Seems like this release date has come from the horses mouth so to speak, but nothing has been announced by Sony/Digital Polyphony.

Until the announcement is made by them...

If its correct, then they will sell a lot of PS3's for christmas.

Big releases always work out like this. If there is any foundaton to this then expect a 2/3 week delay from said date to build up the anticipation for xmas sales.

There is too little info considering the games been known of for years now, they need to feed the community some official goodness!

believe it when I see it, im still waiting since the psp came out

Not got long to wait then less than 4 months to go now for GT PSP. I think sony know that if they announced the GT5 release date too early it may take sales away from the PSP GT and also PSP hardware saes. GT5 date to be announced at TGS with the PS3 price cut and PS3 slim would bhuild sony up some good momentum for the Winter/holiday sales.

Im not sure if things have changed over the years but i would have thought if the game was due out this year there would surely be a lot more hype and info about it.

It'll get put back. There wasn't even a hands on at E3. There was a hands on GOW3 and the release date is march next year!!!

Their wasnt any hands on in 2007 and GT5P appeared:

A) 1 Track demo of Suzuka in October
B) PSN Download and BD Rom in mid December 2007

When its out its out, personally still feel end November/December is possible because of several reasons. (amars cryptic message, previous Sony spokespearson saying months ago, Sony dont yet have any major big release announced for Dec, GT games although not always usually release in the December month and currently its also listed in Playstation Uk magazine as December.

P Digital however rather annoyingly do not release much info/pics/details until a few weeks prior to release but at the same time you just cant rule out a 2010 release. They know it will sell in its millions anyways.

So then what the hell was Gran Turismo Prologue? I got it free, and to be quite frank, was a crap game!

Well it's a prologue to gran turismo 5, prologue means an introduction if you will. It was basically a showcase of what they had so far, it cost £15 at release so to be honest to compare it to a full game is a little unfair.

Please can someone confirm or shed some light please, will there be penalizing implemented in the full game like in prologue if you touch bumpers or go over the chicane you lose acceleration for 30 seconds? As this killed the game for me and would be truely gutted if this was in the full game as it spoilt it for me:(.
