how do :)

I'm absolutely loving this game :D - just curious, what controls do you all use and what settings do you go for?

Im using the L2 & R2 (with "real triggers" :D) for my acceleration/brake, and the right analogue for gearing (the proper way round so down for gear up, up for gear down ;)) and the left for steering... I've never set my pad like this for racing games before but its so intuitive like that i could never go back to the old way of controlling these games... (i remember back in the day i wanted to set the right analogue for gears in gt4 and it wouldn't let ya...)

also settings, i'm having the most fun with everything off and the physics set to professional, but it can be a bit challenging... havn't really decided if its any faster at all does anyone know for sure?

Using a wheel with pedals so pretty obvious controls. Driving aids wise, same as you, everything off and set to professional, i'm not really concerned about what's the fastest, i just care what is more fun and this is definitely it. Tried it at default and it was like playing the original sega rally, which is good for many i'm sure, but it's just not for me.

always wondered, when you have those settings in the game like ASM and traction control, are they all just things added to make the game easier or are you switching off features that the actual cars would have to make em drivable etc?

even formula one cars (in real life) have certain levels of assistance don't they?

I'm using the D-Pad to steer, X to accelerate and Square to brake. I'm also being a n00b and leaving the settings on default.

I'm gonna buy a DS3 soon but i'm not bothering with a wheel as i bought the MS wheel for my 360 and i only ever used it a few times then couldn't be bothered to set it up again!

Am i one of the few that prefers using the controller to a wheel by any chance. Got a ds3 and a g25 and i might as well sell the g25 to be honest.

Using the ds3 i seem to rarely go off the track and have no problems at all. Using the g25 though i only have to slightly move the steering wheel and the car has spun off the track, even when going in a straight line.

I use both analog sticks, left is for turning, right is for acceleration/braking. It's surprisingly easy on your hands, better than triggers and buttons. It'll take a few races to get used to, but it feels very natural. It's on by default, try it out.

Surprised they dont use the right stick for looking around either. Really good on forza

Thats the only thing I hate about the cokc pit view, you can't look at your sides to see if anyone is about to ram you. The **** pit is the most exciting view too.

I've been playing GT5p using the x button to accelerate. The r2/l2 triggers don't have any grip, and I don't have real triggers....yet. ;)

EDIT: I read the other posts and saw you can look right and left when in the **** pit view. Win. :D

Thats because the g25 is more relistic, going at such high speeds means it doesn't take much to spin out of control when using a wheel. Its going to be 100% more sensitive than using a pad.

Only problem is that you can't do left foot braking.

I dont know why people are misunderstanding my 360 view comment.
For example on forza if i want to look for a car behind me I can spin the stick and do a full pan. Or quickly glance at '4 oclock' or '5 oclock' by flciking the stick in that direction.

I think I'm going to chagne my accelerate/brake to the triggers rather than the stick. Was ok when using low power cars but bought the GT-R 07 and the things a beast, one little wiggle of throttle in a high speed corner and it's fishtailing around. Plus triggers mean you can left foot brake while planting the accelerator.

I found setting ASM and traction control off has actually made it easier to drive the more powerfull cars. The damn ASM kept on kicking in mid corner and making me fight a bucketload of lift off oversteer.

oh eta: Where can I get hold of these pro-triggers? They look great to stop fingers slipping off.
