GT86 is there anything I need to know ?

theres a few mods that make a massive difference to the car.

Rear subframe bushes
Gearbox bush
25-35mm lower springs ( or full sus setup if you have the cash )

100% must do mod is a full exhaust system including the manifold and a remap at the same time.

Ive done all of the above so far with the decat manifold being fitted in the next couple of months and another remap to go with the manifold. The difference in mid range pull is insane.

Also - DO NOT BUY IF YOU DONT LIKE CREAKS AND RATTLES!

Yes, like an MX5 they are VERY under powered....but you soon get over that and realize that there is some good stuff in there.

like all the reviewers have said, it's a simple back to basics car.. rwd, skinny tyres, low power and you really have to work it to get anything out of. Makes sense and tbh it doesn't put me off it at all.

As Fox says, unless you are flexible and also hit the deal at the right time leasing isn't great if you want a specific car. It's not very often a fantastic deal pops up, I've been keeping my eye out for a while and had a fairly open mind, but nothing really jumped out and bit me as being amazing (nothing like the Golf R or GTD deals last year where people were getting business leases fudged by the brokers).

the best thing to do for leasing is go to the Pistonheads thread daily, the deals get posted up fairly quickly there, and also ring a few brokers up and give them your contact details and requirements, and if anything pops up they need to give you a call straight away.

you can't argue about taste really, each to their own but I like wide kits on GT86'es :)

I think you'll find you can.

It fits like crap. There are huge gaps in the panels. The panels are misaligned. It's screwed on (is that part of the look?!). The wheels stick out past the arches with exposed rims - which is illegal.

It looks cheap, crap and illegal. If that's your taste then...go you.

that particular example may have been done on the cheap :) but still if someone likes something who are you to argue? it's like walking up to someones wife and saying "yeah she looks cheap, has massive gaps and her face is misaligned, ew" :)

the law is very eh/uhm about tyres and what's allowed and what's not, in general if the thread, when viewed from above is hidden/inside arch then it is legal. which makes his car perfectly legal.

Not sure about you but I don't shag my car. So no it isn't like saying someone's wife is a bit of a hound. You don't give your wife a crooked smile, crap hair and holy clothes. And if your wife is a bit ugly, I'm sure she has other redeeming traits. People are unique. Cars generally aren't. You can always go and buy another one that doesn't look like crap.

Also about the wheels, the law is if the tread protrudes from the arch. There's nothing in it about being viewed top down. The whole point is to protect pedestrians. They generally don't come down over.

It depends on your preference.
If you're after comfort, efficiency and practically, yes.
I'm guessing the op is after something more fun and exciting to drive. In which case, no.

He has a nicely built solid leather clad sport BMW from an era when the 3-series was a really decent solid car. So every sense i guess?

Really? The fact that a BMW is more solidly built and has abundant leather is enough to claim it's an upgrade in every sense?
There's no other attributes of a car that you think might have attracted him to be interested?
