GTA 5 SLI

Looking at those screenies above, that doesn't look any better than the ps4 version in terms of textures, at first glance to me.

Of course the pc version has better (higher) resolution options, and a much higher framerate, which for a mostly pc gamer like myself is all good stuff. I'd be interested to know what other improvements the PC version has too. Is it things like draw distance, amount of cars/ pedestrians?

Well the textures will be the same. It's whether they created higher resolution textures for the PC which I doubt.

Obviously the PC has frame rate, MSAA and so on at its disposal.

I just found this vid on youtube. Not sure how 'scientific' it is, but the PC version does look a lot lot better looking at this if it's accurate

I'm not doing very well to try and convince myself not to buy GTA V, again! :-)

Well I just fired it up and played for an hour or so and I gotta say, it's flawless so far. I have everything maxed at 4k with 2xMSAA (not even sure I need it tbh) and it runs like butter smooth.

Very impressed. GTAIV this ain't.

Having played quite a bit on all platforms I can safely say the pc version is much better. Even at the same 1080p.

If you know what to look for it stands out.
Examples
Draw distance
Lighting and other weather effects
Shadows
Player faces
Grass
Some textures cars etc look much better.

Fired it up myself after downloading for I don't know how long. Anyway, the game performs very well but sadly it's not that great visually like some people seem to make it out to be. There's some scenes that look better but as I whole its circa 2013 graphics IMO.

Have run 4K maxed out btw to see the full eye-candy, but dropped a few settings to get better FPS.

You even set the advanced settings? The draw render full wack is lovely.

Everything mate X8 MSAA and that other MSAA thingy. Sliders to far right and those settings that can go to Ultra and not only Very High aswell. (Nvidia PCSS or whatever thats called for Shadows).

It's not ugly by any means but I've run other games that look better IMHO.

The VRAM slider was ~7400mb or so maxed out on my Titan X.

Guess we have different taste, I feel gta5 is the best looking pc game I played to date. :D

i tried turning shadows to high rather than v high and advanced shadows to off

before 55-65fps with no MSAA
after - 70fps-90fps with 4X MSAA, 4X reflection MSAA

:D

In most games its MSAA , Shadows and Tesselation that make the difference. Haven't fiddled with this one enough.

You have to finish the first part (bank robbery) and be the black guy to be able to see what your FPS numbers are.

With MSAA OFF and Shadows lowered @ 4K it's 60 for me in the bank, 32ish outside (city with black guy) but very stable performance and actually very playable. (you don't see me saying that with most games at 32 FPS)

I'd normally scoff at that sort of framerate, but depending on the game/ engine it's weird and can sometimes feel ok. I played watchdogs, which is basically a *******ised GTA, at a half refresh rate locked 37 fps, and it actually felt good once you got used to the motion blur. It was the on,y way I could get the game to run smooth on one card, as SLI was, and still is completely broken in this game.

Some games are just total arse at anything below 60fps though. Pc gaming eh.

I watched all 3 parts of that comparison and the image quality of the PC version over the others is substantial over all.

Yeah, there's certainly things where it is obvious they didn't put high detail geometry in everywhere which makes it look a little rough in places. Also, the faces and animation of some characters is a little off at times. But none of that surprises me ... the game world is massive, they have to cut some corners.

Aren't you on single Titan X bud? I was (sent it back though) and now back on 780Ti SLI.
Not sure I can be razzed with yet another game that might have microstutter with SLI.

Just to let you know I'm running the game with 780ti SLI @ 1600p and the game runs so smoothly at max settings so don't worry!! No stutter at all!!
