GTA 5

I don't understand the complaints about the GTA IV engine. If anything it's a little too advanced for the current generation of consoles, so why developing a new one is seen as a potentially good thing is beyond me. And the framerate issues were hardly game-breaking. A bit of slowdown has always been the case with the console 3D GTA games.

GTA4 engine was awesome, imo it's one of the best GTA games since the original. Loved the car suspension.

I was impressed with the engine too. Barely noticed any slowdown on the PS3 when I had it. As long as this new GTA is more exciting story and content wise than the last one i'm fine.

Really hope it is a new vice city, but the bit that bugs me with GTA4 as well as SA a bit is the obsession with turning it into a real life game. What i liked about III and vice was that all you had to do was select the mission and do it, none of the run around eating making friends going to the gym etc etc...

The Last GTA game in this series will be the best.

Eg. San andreas was the last one built on the same engine as the others.. It had the biggest city, cars, planes, everything was 100X better than the 1st GTA they used, they just kept building on that one and it turned out good.

Its going to be the same with this game, the last one will be epic.

I never did finish GTA IV as the trophys coming out mid-way through, which completely ruined my motivation.

Perhaps now would be a good time to plough some effort in and finally finish it. I never found the framerates to be an issue.. the online-singleplayer-hang bug was the biggest problem I experienced.

GTAIV was utter pants in terms of mission variety and general characters. Even VC and SA obliterated it by a mile. However the game in general was fairly enjoyable.

The engine however was just not ready for todays hardware I felt. The 360 version was fluid for me and I had no slowdown at all, yet it didn't feel right at the same time. By the time GTA5 arrives, hardware will have increased and that engine will be tweaked to hell so it is bound to run a lot better.

SA was the all round best GTA imo, only just mind you. There was just so much you could do, hell it reminded me of the superb Saints Row series in that area. I loved exploring the outer counties and being owned by angry rednecks in combine harvesters!

In contrast to a lot of people here, I've experienced no slowdown, stuttering framerates or any of the other bugs that seem to have plagued users, this was on the 360 version as well. :) I really cannot wait for more information on this game to be released and I hope they keep up the excellent quality of the voice cast. I agree with one of the previous comments hear in this thread saying about the last game to be using the engine being generally the best in terms of depth. I think this will be the case here. Let's hope for some fresh, new mission types, a new, wider selection of vehicles and of course the brilliant radio stations and comedy that we are used to seeing and hearing in GTA games. :)

I take it you mean the PC version, unless you know something we don't ;)

I do also think using the same engine upon reflection and further though with opitmisation (if any is possible, christ they had enough time to do this last time) this game could be great!

the greatest GTA was GTA IV in my opinion, excellent. so good

I'd have to agree.

Awesome graphics on pc. I'm replaying it on my new graphics card on max settings and it looks so ****ing sweet.

I was playing it yesterday and noticed some epic fog effects, and thought to myself "hey I never noticed this fog before on my old graphics card".

What's with the negativity on the engine of gta4? :p runs perfectly smooth for me, smooth enough to be able to FRAPS videos and still be able to drive like a mofo. At 1920x1200 no less!

Only thing lacking is FSAA but a usermod enabling FSAA is out soon.

Ok let's hope they bring back all the features they removed from gta iv compared to San Andreas, GTA IV is very lacking compared to SA. Doesn't look too great either because of the jaggies.
