GTA IV, worth preordering?

I have this for PS3 and would definately recommend getting it! It takes a while to get used to the driving aspect at the start but once u remember to brake before the corner you'll be fine.

As for people saying it feels small its the biggest out of the last 3 GTAs, maybe cos you have more direct routes to take insead of winding country roads does it possibly feel smaller.

Buy it though

I played about 7 or 8 hours into it, basically because the whole gaming world was telling me I should, but I really didn't see the attraction. It seemed to have none of the humour and character that the previous games (particularly vice city) did, and just felt much more of a chore.

Sorry snowdog but GTAIV is an 18 rated game, you should wait until next year before playing it.

the ratings are not enforced by law, they are just recommendations. However any large company will stick to them as having parents (the money providers) turn their back on them, they would start to loose massive amounts of business.

No - GTA4 has an official BBFC rating of 18 - this is enforceable.

This is not true. BBFC ratings are legally enforceable and it is a criminal offence to supply somebody under the age of 18 with an 18 rated product. The maximum fine for this offence is £5000 and a possible jail term of up to 6 months.

Children should wait until they are 18 before playing 18 rated games. If only parents gave a **** we wouldnt have all these stupid 'ban this' crap from people like the Daily Mail.

Yeah... Right... You do know I've played these types of games from like 11 or 12 ?

I'm not waiting another 6 and a half months, forget it...

If only parents gave a ****

They do, they would both gladly buy me gta iv if someone wouldn't sell it to me...

Children should wait until they are 18 before playing 18 rated games.

No they shouldn't, the age requirements make no sence at all...

Anyways here the ratings are not enforcable... ( source )

Maybe that explains some of your bizarre opinions on stuff you've posted in the past...

GTAIV is a BBFC rated and not PEGI rated game, at least in the UK.

I guess 17 isnt a big deal but playing it at 11? Do your parents not give a stuff? No wonder you said you wanted to do 150mph everywhere in your first car. No sense of reality, warped by playing 18 rated games when you were a kid :p

It just annoys me going on Xbox live for a nice game of GTA and having it trashed by a bunch of irritating 12 year olds who shouldnt even have the game.

Trashed? lol... I didn't really play online back then as I had no adsl in my room :p, as for xbox, don't worry I never had or will have one...

The game is rated by PEGI here...
See https://www.dynabyte.nl/artikel/615417/ ( not a competitor mods, they don't send to the UK...) and enlarge the box art...

Anyways now I'm off to school again...

all gta games have bad popup and low fps on the consoles, pc always rocks

Sorry, I was on about the vehicles & pedestrians appearing/disappearing into view at such short-range. The GTA games on PC are the same as the console versions when it comes to that. e.g some nice car would be driving the opposite way so you turn round to steal it only to see its VANISHED. Not exactly enough to put you off the game completely but just a shame they never seem to improve on that part.

I'll be getting it on the PC even though I have it on the 360 and imo there's nothing wrong with that version.

For those who haven't played it already, the missions aren't as varied as SA - most of them are 'go to mr.x at site a'. You can 'date' various friends for loyalty bonuses, which quickly begin to grate. The main problem here is that missions are extremely plain and lack any thought - which is why I'm hoping the extra content hitting the 360 will address this.

Car handling is drastically different, and feels a bit more realistic handling wise. Cars feel heavy and more solid. Classic GTA traits are still here. Rare cars are just that, damn rare. Once you get into a specific car, then the npc peds all spawn driving them, which is frustrating. Cars vanishing when you turn around are still occasionally apparent.

Helicopters are available to fly as are boats but you won't be using them much as the 3 cities are very dense.

Graphics mean sod all when your end gameplay experience isn't all that and that is what we have here. Personally I quite like the game and its storyline - it's just a shame that the missions are dull and plain. There are only three likeable characters in the entire game for me.

Can't wait for this on PC. Can't be bothered with consoles anymore, bout the only game I want to play on them. Better multiplayer, and graphics are a bonus too.

Lol @ Snowdog.

Fox clearly states its not PEGI rated in the UK, so you post a link to a Dutch website to try to prove your point?

This is from a UK seller, BBFC rated, Your to young, and its enforceable. :p

Wow people trying to enforce age restrictions, have you lot ran out of other stuff to **** up threads with?

Seriously, the only people who are influenced by playing 'adult games' are gonna turn into nutjobs one way or the other.

Lol @ Snowdog.

I am sorry, but are you just stupid or acting like an idiot? Or trying to trash my thread ?

So?

I only posted proof that HERE, where I live, The Netherlands, has different laws and the game is rated by PEGI...

Notice the ''here'':

The game is rated by PEGI here...

Your point being? Since when does UK law apply to me?

The discussion about age rubbish started when fox reckoned I shouldn't buy the game until I'm 18, then fox and stoofa started explaining UK law, I reacted by showing the Dutch law, the only law that applies to me...

I made the thread whether it's worth pre-ordering or not, I'd get the game one way or another too, but I'm asking if it's worth the money specifically, nothing more nothing else...
