Most people completed in a day and probably have not played it since, I got to stage 3 before losing interest.
You have to remember not everyone cares about multiplayer.
Bungie.net statistics seem to say the opposite. It's the number one played game on Live and predicted to stay that way for the lifecycle of the console. There's also a hell of a lot of people going back to campaign many times over. You seem to think you speak for the majority of the gaming populace in an effort to understate its very real success and popularity.
It isn't working. There's no executives in a room going 'Oh the Halo 3 release wasn't a success, let's release GTA4 early'. You won't see this game until next year.
