GTA IV

Played on 360 when it come out.

Got it on the PC when it come out, annoying bugs and poor performance etc when it launched, but it's ok now, and enjoy it more due to the car mods (real life cars etc) and iCEnhancer mod makes it look fantastic

I've only played it on PC. I thought it was pretty good. I seemed to get pretty reliable performance throughout the game. No lag or slowdown issues.

Played it on the 360 from launch, and bought it a month or so ago on the PC. Liking the PC version a lot more to be honest.

Need to get me some graphics mods for it though, that image looks insane starkiller!

I'm tempted to get it again on the 360, with the intention of finally completing the story.

And then just mess about with a few mates on free roam, and maybe some Cops N Crooks

i have it on PC and xbox 360 (got it in the GTA4 entire series for £5 offer on steam). much prefer the PC version because you can use the xbox controller for what its good at (driving when not shooting and using the helo) and the kb/mouse for what its good at (walking, driving + shooting)

get ice enhancer (and any other mods) from here:
http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/icenhancer-135---enb-graphic-mod-f11005

ice enhancer is curerently buggy for version 1.0.7.0 (latest version that steam forces you to get :() so in the mean time i would suggest you get the stuff mentioned in the ice enhancer creators blog, along with a bunch of vehichles

Got it on the 360 at launch. Had zero issues with it aside from the odd frame drop during heated battles. Hugely enjoyed the experience despite the dull as hell missions. Bought both DLC's and tbh Gaye Tony DLC was miles more 'fun' than the stock GTAIV storyline.

Bought it for the PC. It wanted to install GFWL, 1.5hrs later I managed exactly that but I was sick of having to log onto Steam, and then GFWL just to play a game. My issues mainly lie with not having a single positive experience with GFWL, so I've yet to really bother with PC GTAIV.

Mods are great, but the game itself is rather modding unfriendly, as are the previous GTA's. Too much hassle tbh.

with what ive done the mods havent been that difficult atall. to get the road textures mod working i replaced one file for another, and to get a new vehicle in the game you replace two files (with the help of sparkIV) and do a copy pasta with three text files

could be easier, but could be a lot harder

I never had any trouble with GFWL, mind you I didn't get the Steam version of GTA IV I got a retail copy, I haven't had any trouble modding either, It's not difficult at all, just a bit of patience is needed and reading of instructions.

Only played it on PC.

You will need a powerful computer, and even then don't expect to run it with full details and all the sliders up to full. You won't get a solid 60fps with everything turned up.

However, you can make it look significantly better than the consoles, and still run it as consoles do, or run it at the same quality, and run it faster.

IF you stick every setting on low on GTAIV then it will look pretty much the same as consoles. Soon as you start to raise the bars and go high settings you are miles away from what consoles look like. GTA IV with a decent PC looks and plays amazing.

And the fact that the consoles resolution is no higher than 1280x720

Taken from this post:

Xbox 360 settings
Resolution 1280 x 720 @ 20 -30 fps
Texture Quality Medium
Reflection Resolution Medium
Water Quality Medium
Shadow Quality High
Render Quality Low
View Distance 21
Detail Distance 10
Vehicle Density 33
Shadow Density does not exist on the Xbox 360
Definition off
Vsync off

That should give you a good basis to start from (ie, as good as a 360 looks!)

(first tip - turn Definition ON)

I always hear the screenshots never look the same in game. So I would not get your hopes up to high to see that in motion on your screen. Hope you prove me wrong

That does look fantastic. Have just finished playing The Lost & The Damned and making a start on TBOGT. What kinda performance penalty does that mod incur?
