GTA V

Can't be any worse than GTA IV when it was released (and it was perfectly fine for me on release day).

Yeah same here, we seem to be of the few who didn't have any problems at all it seems. I did notice some default settings were killer on the performance though but I forgot what it was - how much of those problems was down to that I wonder?

This, the embargo will be lifted the day before. Wait until reviews are out. Someone in this thread recently mentioned this and further gave great advice to watch TB's review when it's released as well all know he loves to pick games apart, specially on their graphical side.
You don't know that for sure though. Most companies these days seem to be putting embargos until release or worse a day after. And in those cases TB seems to take it personally and delays the WTF is to hit back at them. Either way you then have to give people like TB time to make progress in the game. I would love it if he could get a video up before release or release day, but it seems unlikely.

People have pointed out Max Payne 3 and its solid port, the same team are working on this I believe. They've promised 1080p 60fps, something consoles can't achieve so that's a huge plus already, even 4k support. All the time and delays working on it, even a quote from their last delay saying something like they delayed to make sure it was right. All the signs are pointing towards it being great at the moment, if they mess it up it will be a huge embarrassment.

Good for you. Yet today I can play the game and it will still drop below 60fps on a 2550K and 780. This is not acceptable for a game that looks that close to butt aids.

Have faith it'll be good ;)

There's been a lot of work and development gone into the PC version.

Why have faith when it can be tested to be good before putting money down without any negative repercussions.

In these cases of last minute NDAs or no reviewer copies (FC4, AC:U, Dying light etc) he releases a video called port report where he just talks about the port and it is up pretty much straight away.

I hope this runs ok on Steam. Bought GTA4 from Steam shortly after they released it and just could not get it to run without crashing after a couple of minutes. Ended up buying the boxed retail version from a games store and it worked perfectly.

Whatever was wrong was beyond my capabilities and I can't be bothered to faff around for ages just to get the game to run. I just want it to work!

PS Yes I know a new GPU is required :)

That 6950 you have is a good little card tbh, even now after all these years it will run games on med settings normally at 40/60fps, not bad for a 4 year old card aye.

Pretty much identical system to what I had! Only difference is I bought a GTX970 on the Black Friday deals! Can't complain with the performance at all now! ;)

By "proven" you mean mindless speculation by people not making the game?

Won't matter how well they do it there will always be a chunk of people who simply want to slate it regardless. One tiny problem that last more than a couple of hours and we'll have people raging like 5 year olds.

Personally I've pre-ordered as I know I'd be getting this game anyway, regardless of bugs at release. I'm not going to expect a perfect game, I can't think of any in the past couple of years which have been near flawless anyway. This is the era we live in, where games are patched and in many ways customers gamma test games regardless of whether they've volunteered or not.

It saddens me to see this thread is far from the first page.

I personally can't wait to play this as I gave up console gaming a long time ago and with the DRM used in GTA IV I've not played a GTA since San Andreas.

I don't mean to sound like a dick (I will), but this has to stop, when a company promises 60fps and 1080p on PC releases, it means NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. There are superior variables in control of the 60fps. It's just absolute marketing tripe...

I really can't see how PC gamers are buying into the marketing **** that is "This game will be 60fps at 1080p"... THIS. IS. STANDARD! Not something to sell. What they should be marketing.

"We can run this game at medium to high settings on a 560ti at 1080p @60fps!!!

THAT is what I want to hear.
