GTA V

I don't really see how wanting the best version of a product is fanboyism. I'll be waiting for either the PC version or failing that the next gen consoles. Playing at as low as 16fps is going to hinder gameplay, regardless of how pretty it is.

Aye I will wait to see what the best version is (hopefully PC as that's my preferred platform) and play it then.

What's the rush anyway? The doods that have been queuing all night are a strange bunch...

Been a turning point for me today...

Just ordered the PS3+GTA5 bundle
and made my first ever posts in the...

CONSOLE SECTION!

First and foremost I'm a PC gamer but this is too good a game to wait for if you have access to a console. They've done an incredible job given the age of the hardware, even if you're used to PC the PS3 version I'm playing is just superb, I'd debate whether it's worth buying a console purely for this but to have the option and not to take it would be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

In short the console version is *&$%*£! insanely good :D.

After playing GTA V on the 360, a PC version is badly needed.

The graphics and framerate simply do not compare to GTA4 on the PC.

Seriousely this thread should be closed until there is actually a PC version of GTA V, from reading the last dozen or so pages it is nothing but childish whinging and console bashing, it's pathetic.

I'm incredibly tempted to close it and then get a new thread started when/if the game is announced for the PC.

I'd argue 16fps is doable, its playable but not enjoyable or seamless as a proper fluid 30fps or better. Looks like a lot of the game is not purely about moving as fast as possible everywhere, if thats the case its worth having now most likely.

Its possible to get an old console and the game for under a hundred? too tempting for many I bet

Why? There aren't any massive arguments starting or anything. Just people expressing their frustration of a potentially good game not coming out on PC (yet).

People love to get sanctimonious with the gameplay > graphics stuff. For me, playing on a controller at 20 fps at 720p is very much a gameplay issue, and will actively ruin my enjoyment of the game.

I've no problem waiting as long as a pc version performs properly unlike gta iv. Always great content in these games i just hope they port it properly or else not at all.

Having spent a good number of hours on the PS3 version and considering im 99% of the time a pc gamer I really don't understand where the rubbish graphics/low framerate is coming from.

I can't speak for the 360 version but for me the game has been running at a very fluid 30fps all the time with occasional dips but nothing bad...even with huge explosions and loads of things on screen it hasn't dropped much. At least not to anything you would notice. There is a lot of jaggies yes but theres also been moments that have wowed me and im used to playing max settings and max res pc games. The car models in this are gorgeous and theres so many of them...the animations are some of the best iv seen...the view distance is very impressive for a console and it still felt very fluid cruising around in a plane with the huge viewing distance infront of me.

Of course the PC version will look better but its gameplay that counts and the graphics are the best that these consoles can do and anyone with a console who is waiting for the PC version is seriously missing out.

Why are people moaning about graphics! It's a 7-8 years old tech console! Lol

Be realistic, it's never going to be like your GT680. For something that's hardware is worth about 20p in the PC market, it's flipping awesome!

Indeed and as a PC gamer I'm finding myself wowing at the visuals in many parts of GTA5, the lighting alone needs to be seen in person to be believed. Many modern PC games can't manage what GTA5 does and that's at anywhere near the scale of this game too.

i just cant get over the low res and and the distant flashy jaggies, frame rates are fine though. Im waiting for the PC version to get full enjoyment out of the single player but will play multiplayer on 360

I was a very reluctant convert to console gaming. I only really bought a PS3 for GT5. But the handling of lighting there, and more recently in Last of Us, has really opened my eyes to the skill of many console teams, and the capabilities of rather ancient tech.

If anything it depresses me, because it makes you wonder what our stae if the art PCs are *really* capable of if coders could get "closer to the metal" in the way they can with fixed hardware.

I'm not really interested in GTA5 as a game, but I look forward to picking it up cheap some time on the PS3, just to see another example of a studio wringing the very last drops of capability out of this generation.

That's inevitable, but if the game's good enough it's not a problem; the mood created by the lighting and overall look of the game should carry you beyond the jaggies. Think if it as heat haze. :-)

Mainly for the same reason I wouldn't allow a thread in the Consoles section about a game that is only available on PC - I'm not a fan of cross-forum posting. We have a forum for people to discuss the game if they are playing it, as many people clearly are, yet they're posting in here about it. When it's not even been announced for PC yet, the thread doesn't actually have a whole lot of purpose.

Oh, and I'm not sure where these slowdowns are meant to be, but I played for about 5-6 hours last night on the 360, and it played flawlessly. No pop-in, no slowdown at all. And it looks incredible IMO, especially on 8 year old hardware.

Thing is I'm a PC gamer as a rule, I love my 60fps and 1080p + but I have GTA 5 on the PS3 and I don't give a hoot about the graphics! Sure the 30fps takes some getting used to but for the hardware it's on and the scale the graphics are superb.
Also I think many PC gamers are forgetting that when it does come out on PC, you'll need to spend £500 on a graphics card for it to run at 30FPS, just a bit shinier ;)

I know about the cross platform posting and I probs should not post this. BUT, the slowdowns people get, could it be related to the HDD on the 360 they are playing on being old, or just the fact the machine they are playing on is about to give up.

I personally think the thread should be closed and removed, the thread is utter pointless and the posts about the game should be in the 360 forum. Until this game even has a release date I have no idea why this thread exists..... For all we know it may NEVER even get a release. Thread is pointless imo.
