GTA4 HL2 shadows problem

right installed new version now im runing 9.3

I had a similar problem with eve online. All i done to fix it was turn cat a.i. in the ati cp to advanced and all seemed good after that. Not sure why this worked but it did. This was on a 3870 but the architecture is pretty much the same so it may work for you.

my one is allready set to advanced

Try setting it to normal then. Just play with the settings.

No it didnt, and my setings are set 8x and i also tried on 2x same result

Do you have another pc you can try the card on? If it happens on this one then it might be time to rma it

OP might just have a bad card, though 4870s are usually good.

The shadows in HL2 on my ATI card are fine, getting an nVidia card isn't the magical answer.

Might be the type of anti aliasing will be causing this.

Tried the AA and AF settings in the drivers set to let the Application Decide, as HL2 has its own AA/AF settings, may be conflicting.
