I bought GTA4 a few days ago from D2D from £3.95. Fully patched up to 1.0.6.0 and its running and looking fantastic (despite people on here saying it won’t work from D2D as it uses a custom patch) Here's some screenshots also showing FPS from a couple of online games. The car models look amazing and certain things like buildings and shadows look very real. This is not on highest graphics either. One of the best online games I have played, very fun. Settings and system as follows...

Nice screenshots but you can up your gfx settings until the card is maxed with red writing on memory useage, it will drop to like 25-30fps in some areas but still be playable though i think you can up the gfx quite a bit more like 16xAF at least with nightshadows on high too.

Looks ok, much better than the unpatched version, but still jaggies aplenty and I can't be doing with over-used bloom.

There are games that look as good if not better than this that run like a dream on my machine. Granted there's not as much going on CPU wise, but even in low activity areas, I still get disproportionately low frame rates. I'll probably do what I did with San Andreas and wait until my next upgrade, before I patch this to buggery and play it with everything on max.

^ v-sync? Doesn't look like the game's running that fast, I've got a very similar spec at the moment and I only get a few more frames on the benchmark.

The problem is, mine runs at 45 ish FPS in game, benches around 58 fps, but when playing it still doesn't feel remotely smooth. Lows are about 26, which is not great, but not dire either, still just about playable considering an average 45. But still not smooth gameplay.

Does the gta titles not support aa ? i'm playing gta Episodes from Liberty City, And it runs not so great on my 5850 i7. but there is far tomany jaggie lines :(

lack of v-sync, its either on or off and mine is set to on. alexhull - Strange, mine seems to play pretty smooth, what is yours doing exactly. I have heard of some people getting 'micro stutter' but I can play for ages and not have any problems

You can get a mod for AA i think. Jaggies dont look nice but when i start playing i cant see them/ignore them. Cant you just enable AA in CCC?

I have a similar setup but Q6600 at 3.4 and a GTX280 instead of 5770 (so a bit faster).

It seems that it stutters a lot, especially when the framerate varies. The latest patch made things better, but not much. I'm now thinking maybe my hard drive isn't fast enough, it's a fairly unspectacular WD REII 250GB. What is yours?

Oh, AA mod won't work on the new patch apparently, and the author has no intention of making it work, he's quite angry about it actually. When playing, lack of AA is a lot less noticeable than in the screenshots.

Correct about less noticable AA in game. The author of the AA mod is angry? - He should go any make another one that does work with the patch then! Id rather have a playable game than lines that are smoother! When I first installed it it dipped to about 2 fps every 5 seconds

I have a velociraptor hard drive (150gb) No stutters at all with the settings I have. It doesnt 'stutter' even when everything is maxed, just runs at about 15-20 fps. Ill try changing sliders until they go red tonight but i dont think it will be playable (for me anyway)

Its a fast paced action game and supposed to be played like one

What is/Where is this 'ENB series mod' and the 'First Person view mod' 1680x1050 with 2x2 Supersampling AA

Does 2x2 Supersampling AA kill fps?

8800GT and C2D... What games are these? I tried it on my old machine - 8800GT and C2D and it ran like a bag of spanners on low settings

Exactly my point; I believe that the framerates do not justify the visuals.

DennisK4 - those screenies looks a lot better than OP's to my eyes.

This is it I think. It's his site anyway, should have the GTA4 stuff in downloads.
13 april 2010: New official GTA 4 patch is released. Again and again R* do the same, instead of contact me or hire some better specialist than their own. I'm not personaly interesting in development any new version of ENBSeries for this patch, so if someone from you awaiting for it, don't spend your time. Gays are not allowed, GTA4 is dead.
Aww that sucks :(

I have not touched GTA 4 in a while, will I have better performance than I used to now with a 4Ghz dual core and 4870 512mb? Or will it still run like crap? It was more bother than it was worth before trying to get it running properly.
