GTA4 not much more graphically advanced

the gfx at first look a little blurry etc but the level of detail is immense.

I think if you go back and actually play GTA3 you will be shocked how different they are.
 
Looks as good as I expected, a clear jump up from last gen. You're not going to get a Gears level of detail in an open world game like GTA.

The handling does take some getting used to, but even then I'm not sure why they changed it so much, it's still hardly realistic.
 
Id also say the graphics are a big jump from Vice City. Sure the blurry effect on any distant drawn objects are irratating, but there is def a big difference in detail in areas that immediately surround you.

Was you playing on a HD TV?
 
If you're trying to say its not much better than San Andreas then I suggest you look again, then get your eyesight tested just to make sure.

If you can't tell the difference between previous titles and IV there is seriously something wrong with your eyes. Go back and play it on PS2 and you will see there is a VAST difference. IMO the handling is also vastly improved. Again, go back and play them again and you will see there is no comparison. :)
 
Yeah the handling is loads worse, you can no longer barrel up a side street at 100mph and get round a 90 corner into an ally without hitting the walls...

Everytime i go on a rampage in this game I'm impressed further by the physics. I was killing coppers as they climbed a ladder with the safety cages and there arms go up as the shoulders hit the cage as there body slumps down the ladder very realistically.
 
GTAIV is leaps and bounds above the last gen of GTA games. Honestly, go back and play one of the old games and then play GTAIV again!!!
 
i dont remember san andreas with lots of aa+af looking much worse than the new gta on the xbox360 does.

ive not actually bothered to play it myself though just watched my son playing it on his 28inch hdtv via hdmi cable.

actually looking at yourtube yea lol gtaiv looks far better, some of the san andreas car mods still look good though.

GTA4 is a pretty duff game all around. Highly amusing that it got above an 8/10 anywhere let alone 10/10 across the board =/

The new handling is awesome.

The graphics are not perfect, but for an open world game they are very impressive. Are you honestly saying that shiny cars is the only difference you noticed from GTA:SA to GTA IV. You really must be blind.
 
yeah i am getting back into GTA4 and you cant fault the graphics, they do enough to immerse you into the experience

what is a good thing is that the game didnt need a patch... not many games out of the box are patch free these days

i dont play MP though, so that may need one
 
Do you have a HDTV? As I also thought this when playing on my SDTV, The improvement isn't as obvious.

Since getting my HDTV though, I changed my mind pretty quickly
 
That graphics are way better than any of the previous GTAs. Go take a look and you will soon notice the difference. If you can't then there must be something wrong with your eyes.

The handling is awesome. It takes a little while to get used to, but hand braking around corners is a lot easier than any of the previous GTAs.
 
Sorry for necro but I've been playing GTA4 again recently and I can safely say the OP is full of BS. Graphically it's way better than the previous games, and in places I've actually been very impressed with the graphics and how alive and realistic the city seems.

Either you need your eyes tested, you need to get a HDTV, or you need to properly configure your TV/ in-game display settings. Or a cominbation of two or all of those things.
